T.I. – Whatever You Like

By Will, August 30th 2008

So I finally bought the song yesterday and holy shit it will not leave my head. T.I. has done it again. This song is straight fire!!! It is extremely catchy. From the beat to the chorus, it never lets up. Once it kicks in it keeps going strong. After all the trouble T.I. had with the law, it is good to see he is still going strong. I am not really a fan of rap, but T.I. is one of the few rappers that I can stand. His songs are just really well made in my opinion. This song has not left my head since I first heard.

“We can pop bottles all night, baby you can have whatever you like”

People will be doing exactely this to this song throughout the rest of 2008. Add this to a contender to my best songs of 2008. ‘Paper Trails’ looks like it is going to be a hell of an album. ‘No Matter What’ was another song I really enjoyed. I offically cannot wait! I am sure you can find the song anywhere. I am behind on this anyway, but I just can’t enough of it and figured I would tell you all. Buy the song now, or wait for the album!!!

[New] Kaiser Chiefs – Never Miss A Beat

By Will, August 28th 2008

Kaiser Chiefs have been saying that their new album is like nothing else they have done before and they now have a brand spankin‘ new song to help you believe that to. The track that has been floating around is called ‘Never Miss A Beat’ and it was ripped off the radio. The song has been a fan favorite at their live shows and now they put it out there for all the world to hear. It will be off their new album ‘ Off With Their Heads’ which will be out in stores on October 6th. Their producer Mark Ronsen also claims that this new album is like nothing else the Kaiser’s have done before. So we will see if they walk the walk.

Take a walk with the radio rip below which I found over at Luis’s ever so popular blog Pretty Much Amazing. The song definitely pleases me. I totally dig their work so far, so hopefully this “new” sound will cause some riots. They predicted it!

Oasis Playing Terminal 5…Lottery Style??

By Will, August 28th 2008 — with 1 comment

Brooklynvegan had this to say:

“Oasis is pleased to announce a rare club show in New York prior to the release of their upcoming album. This intimate show will take place at Manhattan’s Terminal 5 on Friday September 12th.

The appearance at NY’s Terminal 5, which will be re-configured for the show, provides an extraordinary opportunity to see Oasis perform new material from their forthcoming studio album “Dig Out Your Soul” to be released Oct 7. on Big Brother Recordings/Reprise.

To apply for the chance to purchase tickets exclusively through oasisinet.com, click here!

Registration will close at midday on Wednesday the 3rd September. Successful applicants will be notified by email.”

Ok so that is pretty damn sweet. I just entered and you should do the same. A small club show like this for Oasis is a pretty rare deal. Good luck to all of you who enter. Hell maybe if I win and can’t make it I will give one of you guys the code!

Matt & Kim sure have a lot of energy. I was able to catch their free show in brooklyn along with The Breeders and The Whip and they were pretty happy people. They got my attention, and their local fame definitely in warranted. So today I stumbled upon a new track by them titled ‘Good Ol‘ Fashion Nightmare.’

This is a damn good track. Really catchy strings and chorus. I am definitely on board, call me a fan. Matt had this to say regarding their new album and song:

“All in all, I feel the songs we recorded are the best music I’ve ever worked on in that room, or anywhere else for that matter. This song is the first anyone is hearing from our upcoming album GRAND. We chose GOOD OL FASHION NIGHTMARE to kick it off, in hopes that it’ll serve you well for these last summer weeks.

Snow Patrols New Album: A Hundred Million Suns

By Will, August 27th 2008 — with 1 comment

Snow Patrol have announced to the world that they have a new album planned called ‘A Hundred Million Suns’ and that it will be released on October 28th in the good old USA. Good news for all you hungry fans of ‘Chasing Cars.’ It is their 5th release, and recorded with producer Jackknife’ Lee who also produced their last album ‘Eyes Open.’ The first single is going to be ‘Take Back The City’ and the video for it will actually be made by Alex Courtes who made the ever so popular video for the White Stripes ‘Seven Nation Army.’

This makes me quite happy. Snow Patrol were one of the first bands that I discovered that were not mainstream (think around the time Final Straw just came out). After hearing them I branched out to different bands, and as I result I have a more eclectic taste in music. I think they deserve a hell of a lot more credit than being known for just ‘Chasing Cars’ the song is a classic in my mind, yes. But they also have many great songs such as ‘An Olive Grove Facing The Sea’ and ‘How To Be Dead.’ People always seem to write them off because of their mainstream success but if you look back at their first few albums, they actually were indeed “indie rock.” Plus, their sound right now is perfect for highly produced indie rock. ‘Chasing Cars’ and ‘Hands Open’ are perfect examples of this.

So I hope this album can keep up the great work they have been producing. They will always be a special band to me, and I will keep on listening! Hope you guys will too!

Klaxons Going Melodic On Us

By Will, August 27th 2008

The Mercury prize winners of 2007, Klaxons are working on new material for their eventual 2nd album. Their producer James Ford (one half of Simian Mobile Disco & producer for Arctic Monkeys) says that the new material is heading in a different direction than their debut. The direct quote came from the BBC Newsbeat and was as follows: “I think they’re still trying to push forward so I don’t think it’s going to sound too much like the last record. They’re trying to keep it melodic and vocal because that’s one of their great strong points. It’s going to be really exciting.”

Sounds cool to me. Aside from all the crazy new rave sounds they make, their vocals on songs like golden skans is one of their bright spots. Cool to see they aren’t going to just stick to the same genre. I was afraid they would just stay with what they had. Seems like everyone is taking risks these days, just ask Keane.

Just news for now, we will see how it is when material surfaces.

[New] TV On The Radio – Dancing Choose

By Will, August 27th 2008 — with 1 comment

Seems like there is new music left and right these days. Another new track from indie favorites TV On The Radio has showed up. It is called ‘Dancing Choose’, and it will be on their new album ‘Dear Science’ which you can find everywhere on 9/23.

The song sounds pretty damn good. Has a really funky start, goes into a softer chorus, then goes right back into it. Got tons of cool sounds floating around that will fill up all the space around you. I really think their unique vocals/delivery are what make them stand out. So far ‘Dear Science’ is looking pretty good, 2 for 2.

[New] Keane (again) – Better Than This

By Will, August 26th 2008 — with 1 comment

VS

I just read this on damien’s blog and needed to post about it. So another Keane song is apparently online called ‘Better Than This’ and I gave it a listen and was caught way off guard. This track will definitely be the most polarizing song on the blogs for the days to come.

I think change can be a good thing, and that change can take a band to the next level. However, I don’t think these high pitched vocals shifts are meant for Keane. Minus that the track is not too shabby. Don’t get me wrong I am enjoying the new 80′s direction that they have taken. I really like ‘Spiralling’ and think that they can still pull off a very good album. Either way, cheers to Keane for reinventing themselves and not continuing the same trend.

Damien is streaming the track over at his site. Check it out, and buy their new album ‘Perfect Symmetry’ when it comes out on October 13th!!

What does everyone else think of this?

Yeah pretty wild. Christopher Urbanowicz said that there are a lot more electronic and samples on the follow up to ‘An End Has A Start’ and that he got some inspiration for the new album from the film ‘The Terminator.’ Not quite sure where this is going, but it got my attention. Hopefully this experimenting won’t turn them away from what they do best. Epic songs like Munich are what we need!!

Vist them on myspace.
