Department Of Eagles are Daniel Rossen (from Grizzly Bear) and Fred Nicolaus, who were roomates at NYU. They made their TV debut the other night on Conan, who has hosted Grizzly Bear before. They played the wonderful song ‘No One Does It Like You’ which will be on their album In Ear Park which will release October 7th, 2008. The rest of the band (at least for the performance) consisted of Grizzly Bear drummer Chris Bear, Dirty Projectors’ Angel Deradoorian, and Nat Baldwin on bass. The song sounded great live, especially for their first time on TV. Grizzly Bear is a great band, so it is only proper that I enjoyed this as well. I got a feeling their album will be on many critics list at the end of the year. Good stuff. (Thanks goes out to Stereogum for the information!)
