Pitchfork’s Top 10 Albums LEAKED by NME?????

By Will, December 13th 2008 — with 2 comments MP3

Woah wait what? Well NME made an aggregated super list of top album lists from the biggest websites and magazines and one of them that they posted was pitchforks. I am assuming that they got pitchforks list early and leaked it without thinking? Check it out for yourself here.

Here is Pitchfork’s Top 10 albums of 2008 according to NME:

1. DeerhunterMicrocastle / Weird Era Cont.
2. TV On The Radio – Dear Science
3. No Age – Nouns
4. Hercules And Love Affair – Hercules And Love Affair
5. Fleet Foxes – Fleet Foxes
6. DJ Rupture – Uproot
7. Fucked Up – The Chemistry Of Common Life
8. Vampire Weekend – Vampire Weekend
9. Cut Copy – In Ghost Colours
10. Portishead – Third

Not too surprised. I loved everything on that list aside from Fucked Up. I only ran through the album once but I wasn’t blown away. I still have to get to listening to DJ Rupture and Portishead (I know, I know. I’m getting there….) Glad they kept Vampire Weekend in the top 10 and didn’t join the bandwagon of backlash. Everything there is very solid in my mind. Most of the records there are on everyone’s list’s just in different orders.

Now the only question that remains is:
is the list real?

    That’s hilarious.

If you look at the corresponding review scores, that’s essentially just the 10 highest-rated albums of the year in descending order. It seems like they would change something around for the final list.
