[NEW] : Passion Pit – Eyes As Candles

By Will, April 30th 2009 — with 5 comments

Passion Pit’s Manners is one of 2009′s most anticipated albums. Well it leaked last night and by now everyone is rashly judging it. After one listen through I am happy with it. I think that they keep the groovy sound that they achieved on their EP and that fans of theirs will stay happy.

Here is one of the cool tracks from the album

[NEW] Dinosaur Jr. – I Want You To Know

By Will, April 30th 2009 — with 2 comments

Dinosaur Jr. are still rocking out. They are still making great music and trippy album covers. They are about to release their new album ‘Farm’ on June 23rd. Check out the album art:

Gotta love it! The band has given us our first real taste of the album via the song ‘I Want You To Know’. It is really cool to hear 80′s/90′s rock music in 2009. This is a great, great track. But what else would you expect from Dinosaur Jr.?

Often I find a few rare b-sides, covers, live tracks, that are definitely worth posting. Well I figured that I should have some kind of “series” of sorts that lets you know you are getting a rare track. It is called Dig Up The Rarities.

Here is the first track to give this series a start. It is from the eccentric band of Montreal. The song is called “Like A Revolution”. It is Kevin covering The Beatles classic (and my favorite Beatles song) “A Day In The Life” backstage at Brown University in Providence, RI on April 18, 2009. I noticed it from You Aint No Picasso. Barnes changes the lyrics and song structure a bit, which explains the different song title. It is a bit of Kevin foolin around but it still sound nice.

I really like this, this is a nice find!

[NEW] Wolfmother – Back Round

By Will, April 29th 2009

When Wolfmother hit the scene back in 2005 I really enjoyed them. I saw a band with a great sound that attracted fans of newer music and classic rock. They had a good thing going, and it seemed like they would have a nice future. However the bands drummer and bassist left the band last year due to ” irreconcilable differences” leaving lead singer Andrew Stockdale all by himself. Rumor was that Andrew was a bit power hungry and a bit of a douche. Who knows the real story…

Well Woflmother…or some form of it is back with 3 new members now and a new album on the way that is called Cosmic Egg. To get some buzz going after most people speculated the band would be finished, the band has released a song for free on their website called “Back Round”. To be honest I came into the song with zero expectations but I was surprised, the band still sounds good. This is a rockin’ tune. Mabe the new lineup can keep things going afterall.

Photons – Glory! [EP]

By Will, April 29th 2009

The Photons as you know, are one of my favorite new young bands. Their debut EP Photons was an EP that I really enjoyed and now they have done it again. They have a brand new EP called Glory! that is due May 12th! The EP is another demonstration of the bands ability to write addictive pop songs. Photons have an upbeat sound that is hard to resist. I can’t wait to see what the band can do with an album full of material!

Here is one of the songs off of the delightful EP, if you enjoy it make sure to support the band and buy the EP!!!!

Wilco’s New Album is called Wilco (The Album)

By Will, April 29th 2009 — with 1 comment

Wilco’s 7th album will be called Wilco (The Album). The band is keeping things simple these days. They are also putting a song called “Wilco, The Song” on the album. Apparently it is a dedication for Wilco’s wounderful fans. You can find many of the songs on youtube since the band has played some of them live already.

I wounder if the new album will be as chilled out as “Sky Blue Sky”, or if they will take a new direction. Either way, I believe in Wilco. Wilco albums are always high quality, and they always relax me. I could use one more before this decade is over!! The countdown begins!

I Like Playlists, You Will Too

By Will, April 29th 2009 — with 3 comments

Life can make you wonder…. Sometimes you just want to change certain things about life. Maybe it is stuff that happened in the past, or things that haven’t happened yet. Maybe you want to change the way you live your life, or your relationships with people. Both friendly and romantic. I don’t know what bugs me more. The waiting for change, or the failure of any change to happen. Sorry I am rambling a bit….

Here are some songs that describe my current state of mind. They are some really good ones. Hope you enjoy:

[mp3] : Panda Bear – Comfy in Nautica

[mp3] : Peter Bjorn and John – Amsterdam

[mp3] : M83 – Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun

[mp3] : The Cribs – Men’s Needs

[mp3] : The Beach Boys – God Only Knows

Empire Of The Sun – We Are the People + Half Mast

By Will, April 29th 2009 — with 1 comment

I have posted about Empire Of The Sun a few times, mostly to promote how great their single ‘Walking On A Dream‘ is. Well I finally got their entire debut album and have been enjoying it. Going through it I realized that this album’s frist 3 tracks are absolutely killer. The 1-2-3 punch of Walking On A Dream, Half Mast, and We Are The People is absolutely nuts. The songs are just perfect pop perfection. I have had all 3 songs stuck in my head simotaniously, and I aint complaining. These guys got a really good thing going on, sorta similar to MGMT.

Check them out, I think these guys popularity is only going to rise:

[NEW] Passion Pit – Moth’s Wings

By Will, April 28th 2009 — with 1 comment

Passion Pit are taking over the internet. This band is everywhere right now! For good reason, they are consistantly putting out great tunes! They have given us another taste of their upcoming debut album Manners. The new track is “Moth’s Wings” and the band continues their winning streak. Manners drops May 19th, can you wait any longer???

I gotta say when I first read about Passion Pit I did not get what the buzz was about. But after spending some time with their EP and hearing all these great songs of the album, the hype is well deserved. I believe in Passion Pit, you shall too!
