So last night I went to see Adventureland with a few of my friends. I am finally HOME for spring break! Wooo! Since it was directed by Greg Mottola, the same fella who directed Superbad, I expected a laugh out loud comedy. In the trailers I noticed there would be some romance with the two main characters Brennan and Em played by Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart but thought the film would still be filled with dirty humor. Well there is plenty of it, but not quite as much as you may think. The film was funny but for the most part it was serious focusing on the troubled love that was brewing between the co-stars.
Stewart is beyond hot in this movie, she really makes you fall for her. The film is set in the summer of 1987, when Brennan has to find a summer job in order to pay for his planned graduation trip. He works a dead end job at the theme park Adventureland and meets people that not only make his job fun, but actually change his life. The story is wonderful and really connected with me. This is the ultimate coming of age film. I could only wish I could find my Em.
his movie worked because the people were so real. None of the fake ass Hollywood characters. These characters were people that you knew somewhere in your life. Everything about this film worked. After it I felt like changing my life, which I have not really felt since I saw Garden State how many years ago? You were rooting for the characters to get together already, because we all know we had the one girl that did get away…
Ever since I got home from the film, I have been thinking about it. Wishing my life could have these crazy interactions and have a really hot girl like Kristen Stewart in my life. Haha well one of those won’t happen. But yeah man I don’t know what it is about her. I think a part of you felt like her character was really who she was, making her all the more attractive!
Anyway guys, you gotta check this flick ou. It is a totally different film then they advertised. Think of it as a dramatic/romantic comedy rather than Superbad 2 and you will be amazed at the result. It really is a sweet movie that will have your mind wrapped around it. Best flick of 2009 so far? I think so. Oh the soundtrack is pretty cool too:
