Noisettes – When You Were Young (The Killers Cover)

Many people are not too found of The Killers anymore, but I still have plenty of room in my heart from them. Either way, no one can deny the brilliance that is “When You Were Young”. Still till this day the song sounds as urgent, and epic as it did when I first heard it. It is without a doubt one of the best songs of the decade.

Noisettes agree with the notion that the songs kicks ass on all cylinders and covered it for BBC’s Live Lounge. The Noisettes are an indie band from London that you should totally check out if you like what they did to The Killers classic. Shingai Shoniwas’ soulful vocals really give the track a totaly different feel. There are soft backup vocals from backup singers over delicate strings that totally transform the song into their own. They even changed the lyrics! This is a brilliant cover, totally worth a spot in your itunes collection :-) .

Brandon would be proud!

Emz, grow up, it’s not a competition. The purpose of a cover is not to be better than the original, but to take it in a different direction, with the soul of the musicians playing it. Do you really expect them to play it just like the killers? What on earth is the point?!

This is flawlessly done, the strings, altered progressions, back up vocals, it’s all awesome- very fresh- not to mention Shingai’s incredible voice. This is by far one of the best covers I’ve heard… also the back up singer on the right is hot!

I think this is pure genius, and i totally agree with Frankie – the way it is flawlessly done, the strings are wonderful and the backing vocals complete the cover. I also love Shingai’s voice, its incredible. I really cannot believe that it can be disliked.
Of course it is not like the Killers version, that’s because the Noisettes have created a more melodic, soft version of the song.
To conclude, i think that both versions are amaazinnggg!
thankkkss for putting it out there!
