Some songs just sound like they could have fit in any era. There is music in the past that is ahead of its time, and there is music that could have fit perfectly in the 50s/60s that is being made today. Cass McCombs stunning song “Dreams Come True Girl” proves the latter to be true. This song totally surprised me. It is a mix of country/americana with some folk thrown in there as well.
Cass McCombs created a delightful track that could have totally be in that high school dance scene for your favorite 50’s/60s movie. It really makes you feel great, a true indicator of a winning song.
Dreams Come True Girl makes you want to find that special someone and make her your own. I am really impressed with this track. Another worthy contender in my best songs of the year. It will be off of Cass’s new album Catacombs which is set for a July 7th release.

Usually this blog is on-point, but this is one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard.
I am sorry you feel that way Miguel! I honesty really love the song. I respect your opinion however. I just respectfully disagree.
But, honestly you think its one of the worst songs you ever heard? I recommend putting on some Vanilla Ice or Hanson, then come back to this song.
:-p
Aww man, I was hoping for the Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black Karen Black, but this Karen Black is good, I suppose. I’m not a fan of this song, but I definitely would not qualify this as the worst song I’ve ever heard, but if you’ve only ever heard two songs then maybe?
Have you ever seen Cass live? He puts on a hell of a show, he’s on the new Josh Schwartz web- series Rockville CA (www.rockvilleca.com), there’s two performances up and an interview.
The link may be dead, but I still feel the urge to counteract the slander here.
I’m with you, Will. This song is fantastic! It’s so romantic and dreamy, and it features Karen Black, for fuck’s sake ♥. Could it get any better? I just learned of it today, courtesy of seeing it listed on Entertainment Weekly’s somewhat questionable, somewhat intriguing Top 20 singles of 2009.
This should get numerous plays from me, no doubt about it =).
Thank you James!
Glad to see that my posts still live on almost a year later! This song is top class, and I still love it!
