Artist To Watch: Florence and the Machine

Florence and the Machine is the name for Florence Welch and her band. She has a soulful voice that will take over the entire room, and capture any audience. At times her vocals remind me of Lily Allen, and Kate Nash. There really is something different about Florence and the Machine that has captured my attention. It seems that I am not alone.  She has gotten tons of praise from the BBC and NME over the past few months, even without releasing a debut album yet! The day is not too far however! Her debut album Lungs, comes out July 6th in the UK. (Something tells me their is no US date yet…)

Her voice is spine tingling beautiful. Her songs have legs, and blossom into full fledged anthems that would make any UK native proud. (As well as make all US “pop stars” hide their tag in utter shame)

I’ve given you a sneak peak of her debut album Lungs via 3 songs. “Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)” is a a powerful, soulful number, that really showcases Florence’s beautiful vocals and arrangement abilities. “Kiss With A Fist” (her first single..ever) is more of a fun rocker with clean crisp guitar riffs. “Dog Days Are Over” has an island friendly guitar riff that has a sense of urgency that allows Florence’s voice to sail to ridiculous heights.

All songs are different in their own way, but they remain equally as powerful. I am really impressed with what Florence And The Machine have shown us so far.Their is something about them that begs for my attention. I will give it to them as long as the rest of Lungs remains this damn good. The hype is totally jusitified, lets just hope the rest of the world notices.

I LOVE Florence + the Machine! But really you don’t need to make it sound like everyone in the US has bad taste in music. I’m from the US and i don’t like crappy pop music.
