What the fuck happend to the band that made The Blue Album and Pinkerton?
They played 2 new songs in Japan and videos surfaced on youtube. The first song is “The Girl Got Hot” and it is just horrible. The next is called “I’m Your Daddy” and it just makes me shake my head even more.

Please tell me this is a joke? Sadly things are just looking worse for one of my former favorite bands. They added a 5th member to the band, allowing Rivers to leave his guitar duties to their original drummer Pat Wilson. Also, they have the same fucktards (aka professional pop songwriters) who have wrote “memorable timeless classics” such as Bowling For Soups “1985″.
This is like a bad dream. If you showed me these songs after Pinkerton came out, and said that’s what would have become of this band I would not believe you. The Red Album’s first half was perfectly fine pop/rock that we all enjoyed. The second half was them trying to experimenting and it wasn’t too memorable. That I can respect. However, now it seems like they are selling out and making corporate friendly pop-shit.
I have lost faith in Weezer. This pisses me off. Bad.

You’re right, this sucks, and hurts. Weezer should have recorded Songs From The Black Hole, split up and become an indie legend 12 years ago. One funny thing about River is that he makes wonderful demos and record the crappiest songs he wrote on Weezer LPs, and even record shitty songs from his colleagues whereas he has dozens of killer songs on demo tapes, kindda strange behaviour. But this is also what makes this band so charming.

This really pains me. Weezer was truly my first favorite alternative band and started me down the path to good music when I was in junior high. Without them, I would be listening to the same old popular crap people are listening to today……oh wait. That’s the path their taking right now….damn.
