We all know that tons of great music comes out of NYC, and most of the time its from Brooklyn. Well, add Darlings to that list. Polished music can be nice. However, sometimes the dirty and raw rock that you would hear in a garage is what you are really looking for. Well, if you want one of the best young garage rockers around, I would recommend that you get to know Darlings.
Darlings are a 4 piece out of Brooklyn that are gaining a nice following, with some solid buzz. L Magizine even called them one of 8 NYC bands that you need to hear this year. They recently released their debut album Yeah I Know. I would say get on these guys now, these guys are going to blow up soon.
The album is full of fun, gritty songs, that are fulls of energy. They have a keen sense of melody that shines throughout the album.
Two songs that are some of the best songs I’ve heard all year are “Teenage Girl” & “If This Is Love”. They are two very different songs but demonstrate the abilities of Darlings. You can’t go wrong with a set of songs like ones you find on Yeah I Know. They are a pleasure to listen to, and you can feel their passion. Although you may call the recordings lo-fi, you can’t help but realize these songs are so good that it doesn’t even matter. It just helps them even more. I have been able to just put this record on and enjoy it immensely. That is all that matters at the end of the day, right?
