Guilty Pleasure Of The Day: Kelly Clarkson – Since U Been Gone

By Will, August 13th 2009 — with 2 comments MP3

We all have guilty pleasures. Some people won’t admit it because they don’t want to loose any credibility. However, fuck that. Hell, I never will have to face any of you guys publically anyway, so what does it matter eh?

Today I have had Kelly Clarkson’s rockin’ 2004 single “Since U Been Gone” stuck in my head. It was a song I couldn’t help but like when I was a young lad at 13-14, it is just catchy. It still sounds as good as ever today. It has all the ingredients of a perfect pop song. A great singer, big sound, catchy chorus, and memorability. “Since U Been Gone” certainly has that.

I have a random but funny memory of this song, that pretty much defines the song for me. I was in the car late at night with a few friends, driving to a party. “Since U Been Gone” came on the radio, and we all looked at each other sorta similar to the scene in the Harold and Kumar. Once the chorus hit, somehow we all just started to sing it and not really care. It was random, but showed how irresistible the damn song is.

She is the only Idol that I respect, and the only one that has crossover appeal to some degree in the music world. When looking back on the best songs of the decade, I think this will be up there. Kelly Clarkson is ok in my book with songs like this!

my friend likes to say “you do two things when this song comes on: 1. roll up the windows, and 2. blast the radio”. embarrassing, but true.
