Weezer’s untitled 7th album is set to come out October 27th, 2009, and that is about all that we know. They announced it on their myspace with no details other than a release date. I don’t have any expectations after hearing the two new songs they played in Japan, which were not any good…at all.
I really don’t know if I can get excited about an album that is written and produced with “professional writers” (the same douches who write for Bowling For Soup). Now I’m not mad at it just cause it sounds mainstream! Weezers always been mainstream. However, this time it seems the studio is pushing them toward a mainstream sound. Rather than letting Weezer write songs that are good enough to earn their radioplay.
Lets hope this is more like the Red album’s first half, then those new youtube songs.
