[Video] Keane – Cast No Shadow (Oasis Cover)

By Will, August 24th 2009 — with 2 comments

I got another Oasis Cover from the V Festival in the UK to share with you guys! I posted a Snow Patrol cover of “Wonderwall” last night, and now we got a Keane cover of “Cast No Shadow” (one of the overshadowed tracks on the great album known as (What’s The Story) Morning Glory?).

Someone was cool enough to record a clip of it. Unfortunatly it is only a small clip. I won’t rip an mp3 unless we find a full version. Keep your eyes peeled!!!

Rainbow Bridge – Big Wave Rider

By Will, August 24th 2009

Check out this really cool track from a Washington based band called Rainbow Bridge. It has a chill melody, perfect vocals for the mentioned melody, infectious guitars, all resulting in 4 minutes and 16 seconds of pure excellence. These boys put down some killer vocals. They have the melody/vocals of the past (the beach boys) and the experimental sound of the future. Who said that you can’t have the best of both worlds???

This would be a perfect song for any summer beach mix.

Rainbow Bridge doesn’t have any releases yet, but word is that there will be a 7 inch release of this son in the future. For now, grab hold of their myspace and listen to the rest of their songs.

[NEW] Jay-Z – We Off That (Feat. Drake)

By Will, August 24th 2009 — with 4 comments

New Jay-Z has said hello to the inter web. It is track #8 off of Jigga’s new album The Blueprint 3.

Honestly, I’m kinda disappointed with this one.. This hardly sounds like Jay-Z. This sounds like Jay-Z trying to sound more radio friendly, which he doesn’t need to do…at all. I don’t know who this Drake fella is (aside from the fact that he used to be on Degrassi, or still is??) but he doesn’t add to much, at least in my opinion. I believe Timbaland produced this one.

Will this song grow on me? Doesn’t seem too likely, but you never know….

[mp3] : Jay-Z – We Off That (Feat. Drake)

Here’s the full tracklisting for The Blueprint 3:

01 What We Talkin’ About [ft. Luke Steele of Empire of the Sun]
02 Thank You
03 D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)
04 Run This Town [ft. Kanye West and Rihanna]
05 Empire State of Mind [ft. Alicia Keys]
06 Real As It Gets [ft. Young Jeezy]
07 On to the Next One [ft. Swizz Beatz]
08 Off That [ft. Drake]
09 A Star Is Born [ft. J. Cole]
10 Venus Vs. Mars
11 Already Home [ft. Kid Cudi]
12 Hate [ft. Kanye West]
13 Reminder
14 So Ambitious [ft. Pharrell]
15 Young Forever [ft. Mr. Hudson]

(according to that, there is no MGMT track) …im starting to get nervous about this album. Am I the only one?

Snow Patrol – Wonderwall (Oasis Cover)

By Will, August 23rd 2009 — with 4 comments

Snow Patrol did a cover of the always familiar Oasis classic “Wonderwall” at the V Fest earlier today.

I wonder what the Gallagher’s think of Snow Patrol..and this cover……. God only knows!

I think this is a very nice cover. Lightbody has a very strong voice live, and he does the song justice. Cheers to him and the rest of Snow Patrol!!! I will always hold them dear in my heart. No matter how “unhip” some people may find them.

The show was only hours ago, yet someone uploaded it to youtube already. This is literally as new & hot as they come!

A Great Review of Humbug

By Will, August 23rd 2009 — with 3 comments

OneThirtyBPM have posted a spot on review of the Humbug. Really strong points, I really couldn’t have said it any better myself.

Read the review here.

Pitchfork should have their review of Humbug up tomorrow. I wonder if it will be higher or lower than what they gave the previous Arctic releases? Both albums got 7.4′s. I am hoping for a 8.0 but if pitchfork is generous they probably will give it a 7.8. Then again, they could underhand them and give it between a 5-6…

Radiohead played their newly released song “These Are My Twisted Words live the other night at their first Austrian concert. Radiohead lay it down nicely, especially for it being the first time.Check it below:

I would kill to see them again! Nothing like a Radiohead show!

RHCP..Back In The Studio Soon

By Will, August 23rd 2009 — with 1 comment

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are finally going to head into a studio in October to work on new material. This would finally end their 2 year hiatus, which is good news to anyone who likes rock music.

RHCP are one of my favorite bands. Although I didn’t return to Stadium Arcadium as much as I hoped to as the years went on, I still hold their classic albums dear. I still stand behind the fact that “Wet Sand” is one of their best songs though.

Maybe this two year break will give them a new creative energy, allowing to create a really fresh record. I only want new material if it is real music, not a tired attempt to make $$. However, this is RHCP we are talking about. Not Fall Out Boy.

I can’t wait to hear some new stuff!

You can read the article over at rollingstone.

I’ve finally slashed my email inbox to 200 emails. I’ve literally been sitting here for a good portion of today, just getting through the emails. Sadly I’ve had nothing else to do today.

I think this is one of the strongest portions of the “music from the inbox” series. Every one of these songs is pretty strong! Anyway, click the song, digg it, visit them on myspace to find out more!
