“While You Wait For The Others” is appropriately the 2nd single off of Veckatimest. It is a stellar song, one that gets better and better everytime. The scary thing is that it already sounded mindblowing from the first live version we ever heard of it.
The single release strangely has Michael McDonald singing over it, instead of Dan Rossen. Michael’s deep voice will be familiar to pretty much anyone who had to listen to the music that their parents played.
His voice sounds awkward more often than not w/ Grizzly Bear in the background, but in some weird way I kinda like it. It works at some points of the song better than others, thats for sure.
Grizzly Bear did something unexpected here, and that alone makes this a worthy listen.

awkward or not, I think it kind of enhances the track.

I love that you can tell he really likes the song.

I don’t think it’s awkward at all. If really works.

I think his voice is perfect for the song, which reminds me very strongly of a Cream composition. His voice is really beautiful and has a very special quality – true for all of the members of Grizzly Bear. What a brilliant band.
