I am not a fan of Paramore at all. They annoy the hell out of me. That’s just me though, there are plenty of Paramore fans out there. I didn’t have anything else to post today so I figured I would throw in a random cover. Normally Paramore wouldn’t quite fit in on my blog.
I recently ran into their cover of Kings Of Leon’s “Use Somebody” from a live BBC session, and it is a pretty enjoyable cover. Paramore’s singer has a really nice voice, and it fits the stripped down acoustic version that they perform.
I can’t believe how blown up this Kings Of Leon song got. I remember last year here in America, Kings Of Leon were starting to finally sell albums a bit more, but they didn’t have nearly as much success as they do now because of this song.
Throughout my hallways in my dorm sorority girls are blasting the song calling KOL the “best.band.evah”. I wonder if they even know that Kings Of Leon have 3 other albums…I wouldn’t mind that they are blasting it, if I didn’t hear Sean Kingston’s fire burning 56 times in a row after.
Don’t get me wrong, I am glad Kings Of Leon finally broke out here in the U.S.!! It’s just sad to see so many band-wagoners claiming the band to be theirs, when some of us have been supporting them for years, while the same people were too busy Soulja Boying!!
Sorry for the rant…check out the cover below:

HAHAHA this is the the funniest post you’ve ever written! (in a good sense).
I’m not a fan of Paramore too. But a KOL cover deserves to be listened. Did they breat out in U.S. just now? Here in Brazil they broke out after Use Somebody has appeared in a tv novel… a pity…

I like the cover, by the way…

Mariah — 23 Sep 09
i agree! everyone has been band wagoning since sex on fire came out and even more since use somebody came out. they’re good songs, but not nearly as great as their old stuff!!
and yeah, those chicks in your hallway probably only know 3 songs by them. sad sad.

Katarina — 23 Sep 09
i know what u mean. i know a lot of people who only like Kings of Leon because of “use sombody” and “sex on fire”.i’ve been a fan for a while now and so happy to see them break through in the U.S but i wish people would listen to their old stuff too.People who call themselves “fans” of KOL because of these two songs need to hear how amazing they really are.
Love the Kings forever

This is a little unfortunate.
KOL are amazing, and I have all their albums, and not just because of their latest singles.
Paramore, is also great! And I think that this cover is nice, soft and full of range!! Way to go Paramore, I love it!!!
People hop on “band-waggons” for music all the time..get over it!

I can understand how you feel but I wish KOL all the success they deserved. Only By the Night may not be there best album and it’s a different sound but still, they did a very good job. Maybe after being catch by those two songs people will want to know more about KOL and come looking for their past work. I’ve discovered them when Aha Shake Heartbreak got out and still considering me as a fan even if I missed out for Youth And Young Manhood. Talk about your favourite albums and you may bring them more fans. I’m sure that is what they want. (Quality fan please

I love this blog!! It is SO true. I have been listening to KOL for a while now. When I was listening no one would appreciate them the way I did. Then they started playing Use Somebody on the radio and everyone was like OMG I love this band……I was like WAIT you didn’t like them when I tried to get you to listen. Either way I am glad they have made it and people are getting to know and love KOL the way I do. Their music is what you need to have that perfect day!!

Haha, the funny thing is that The kings of leon was a crap band before, Molly Chambers was my favorite hate-song along side of well other contemporary bands with crap arrangements. The fact that they now are popular and that people like them is because their most recent album kicks the hell out of their prior ones, therefore their heritage is nothing to hold dear. They were not, like most bands, releasing a kickass first or second album, rather the realised they were shit and got their act together, thus this beeing their first real album, or second at the most. The first one however, does not even sound like them and is probably the worst record I have ever heard..

Mans, you are dumb.

This was a sick cover!!! They just keep getting better and better… Im actually going to see them live at this crazy Halloween festival with AFI, Kid Cudi, Asher Roth and Dead By Sunrise.
