[Video] Weezer – Viva La Vida (Coldplay Cover)

Weezer have been all over the place as of late. They released Raditude last week, and played on David Letterman’s show for two consecutive nights! The first time they performed “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To“, and then they played “I’m Your Daddy” the next day!!

Weezer also played some small club shows this weekend, and did some big covers. One included a cover of Coldplay’s massive hit “Viva La Vida” in New York City. Its more so just Rivers performing this, but lets not be picking about the tags!

Rivers doesn’t know the lyrics by heart, which probably just ruined any Chris Martin/Rivers collab. But there are still plenty of those. He reads the lyrics off paper, but Rivers still sings with plenty of passion and hand motions.

Either way, here is a rarity to add to your Weezer collection!

as a bonus, here is there performance of “I’m Your Daddy” on Letterman while wearing snuggies. Hate or love their new material, you can’t deny that they still got their live chops!!

It’s odd. I saw Weezer in 2005, it was an enjoyable show but Rivers was still very shy. While Make Believe was not there best work it’s masterpiece compared to the last two albums, and not he is so great live but i have no desire to see them due to songs like I’m your daddy. Great Blog by the way, it’s my favorite on the net, keep up the great work!

Could only have been recorded in the US (the phenomanal large percentage of the audience who want to shout “Woooooo yeah” throughout any performance – especially in quiet moments – thus ruining it). Cunts.

It pisses me off to the point of wanting to join Al Quaeda (oops better make it clear I’m only joking before some CIA men burst in and illegally extradite me to a country like Egypt where they can torture me with impunity).
