[NEW] Arctic Monkeys – Catapult

After giving Humbug enough listens, I think most of you will agree that “Cornerstone” is it’s finest moment. Thankfully it is the 2nd single, and that means glorious b-sides are attached. One of these is called “Catapult” and someone was cool enough to upload it to youtube. There for there is a mp3!

Arctic Monkeys have always found a way to make stunning b-sides that I often enjoy even more than album songs. Songs like “Leave Before The Lights Come On”, “No Buses” “Settle For A Draw”, and “What If You Were Right The First Time?” are some of the Monkey’s best work, by far!

“Catapult” has a chance to be mentioned in the same light as those aforementioned b-sides.

Alex Turner’s lyrics are top notch (would we expect anything less?). There is just something about the way Alex sings.. He sings is lyrics in such a unique way that they almost come to life on thier own. He truly is one of a kind!!

Check out a line from “Catapult”:

“and if his whisper splits the mist
just think of what he’s capable of with his kiss”

Magnificent!

“Catapult” seems to bridge the gap between Favourite Worst Nightmare and Humbug. It has traces of both albums, while sounding very different at the same time. I am enjoying “Catapult” more and more with every listen, it fits perfectly as a b-side for “Cornerstone”. It is a shame they left this off Humbug, I really believe that it is strong enough to sit side by side with the best of Humbug.

I think Catapult should have replaced Fire and the Thud or should have been in between Fire and Cornerstone, but I’m happy it has seen the light of day.
