There has been a lot of new songs coming out into the web lately. We are pretty much done with 2009 now. Everything that had to come out, has by now. Everyone is working on their best of the year lists, and some blogs have already finished them! To be honest with you, I still got a long way to go in that department! I have a vague idea of what albums I want to include in my lists, but I am not sure about the specifics (how many, or in what order). I am in the same boat for songs. I just can’t get myself to make a finalized decision so early. I use this last month to divulge into everything once more, and come up with a final list at the end of the year. I feel like that is the most “proper” way to do it. That’s just me though!

Friday Fresh Bin is a new feature that I will use to compile the all of the weeks new songs that I was unable to get a post about. It will mostly be “brand new” songs, but I may also throw in some songs that are new to me. This way, I will have a resource to pump out all of my favorite new jams to you guys. It saves me multiple posts, and makes it easier for you to access the goods. Everyone wins!

This Friday’s Fresh Bin features 3 new songs from great artists that are all releasing albums in 2010. Honestly, with the addition of these three artists to the already impressive line up so far, 2010 is going to be one hell of a year!!!

Here’s the rundown:

[mp3] : The Soft Pack – Answer to Yourself

Do you remember a buzz band called The Muslims? Well it’s been almost a year since I posted about them changing their name to The Soft Pack to avoid dealing with the controversy that accompanied The Muslims name. Check out a new song called “Answer to Yourself” from the band, and you will understand why these guys are considered one of the best new bands in the game! It has a garage rock sound, which is one of my personal favorite sounds. At the same time, everything sounds clean and emphasized. They struck a balance between lo-fi and clean production, which is tough to do!

They are finally going to release their long, long, long, long (get the point?) awaited debut album on 2/2/2010, so stay tuned. These guys have stepped out of the spotlight with the name change, but I think the time has come for the Soft Pack to hit pretty hard! You can pre-order their LP from insound if you have been waiting as long for their album as I have! If your still undecided, go read up on them and watch them play some songs at their label’s website. It is good to see these boys back!

[mp3] : Ted Leo and The Pharmacists – Even Heroes Have To Die

I don’t like to claim to have known a band for years if I have never listened to them. I feel like so many people claim to know every band out there just to help their credibility. I do have some knowledge about how Ted Leo is, but I have never listened to Ted Leo and The Pharmacists. Until now. The band recently gave their new song “Even Heroes Have To Die” away for free, and how could I pass that up? I am glad I finally listened to Ted Leo because it is well worth it! The first thing I noticed about the song was the fine tuned production, the song sounded so clean! It is a rocking song that has a hint of pop in it. Call me a newly educated fan of Ted Leo! I will be diving into all his albums old and new! It will be off of his new record The Brutalist Bricks, due in stores 3/9. It is his debut on Matador Records, so congrats to you Ted!

[mp3] : Shout Out Louds – Walls

I am not the biggest fan of the Shout Out Louds, but similarly to Ted Leo, I haven’t really devoured too much listening time to them. The only]song that I have by them is the excellent You Are Dreaming.  I am glad that I am though, there new song “Walls” is pop-rock glory. It is no surprise that The Shout Out Louds are from Sweden. Sweden is establishing itself as the home of the best pop/rock bands right now! For comparison’s sake, “Walls” reminded me a lot of The New Pornographers and Peter Bjorn & john! And trust me, that is a very good thing! Time for me to grab their other 2 albums before their 3rd album Work comes out on 2/23!!
