There is something just magic about Jonathan Meiburg’s band Shearwater. The former Okkervil River member has a really haunting voice that fits all too perfectly with Shearwater’s piano based sound. Their sound is very organic and worldy, sort of like Beirut. There new album is called The Golden Archipelago, and it is going to grace our ears in 2010.

The song “Castaways” is off of the new album, and it is available for your listening pleasure below. It is really dramatic and epic, and equally beautiful and majestic! Personally, I still prefer Okkervil River. But I am still very much impressed with what Shearwater is doing! (Come on, its tough to beat Will Sheff!) The are able to sound very classical, with a hint of indie on the side! I think this album is going to do big things for Shearwater. I’m going to go out and predict that they have a very big 2010!
