Jónsi, front-man of Icelands heroes Sigur Ros is preparing to release his own solo album. To get some buzz going, he has released the song “Boy Lilikoi” for free on his site in exchange for your email!
Everyone’s first assumption is that Jónsi’s solo album is just going to be Sigur Ros with some of Jónsi’s influences mixed in. Maybe this is true in a way since Jónsi’s ridiculously god-like voice makes Sigur Ros what they are more often than not.
However, it isn’t completely true. For starters, Jónsi sings in English on this new track. Which is quite a special treat that all of us have been dying for. Jonsi’s voice sounds almost as ethereal in English, even with the shield of mystery gone.
His solo album is simply titled Go, and it is going to be released on March 23rd. Apparently most of the songs of the album will be sung in English. I can’t wait to hear it! Get the rest of the details at pitchfork!
