The Sun, has posted an article (creatively titled Coldpray) that gives us some news on Coldplay’s eventual 5th album. The article reports that they are in a chruch recording the studio with Brian Eno, who also produced Viva La Vida.
Chris Martin does not want to become “a huge stadium act”, since it may “disappoint his fans”. Here are the direct quotes from the article:
“Chris is determined not to be seen as a huge commercial rock juggernaut, filling stadiums and cashing in.
“This is the plan to keep them as close to their fans as possible.”
This honestly shocked me, because I could have sworn they had U2’s ambition to conquer stadiums. But hell, I am really happy that he is looking out for his fans. After all, they are the ones who are backing you up! Apparently recording in a church is giving the band a lot of creativity!
Read the entire article right here. There is not much to report yet, other than that the record is scheduled to come out in 2010. Hopefully we will have more as we get deeper into 2010!

[...] Grab your Revolutionary War garb, Coldplay’s “holed up in a dilapidated north London church” working on a new album for release next year. Brian Eno’s back, but to avoid being a “huge stadium act” (?), they’re going in “a stripped-down, more acoustic” direction. More at the Sun (Via WAWSTSF). [...]

[...] said that they are more excited to make new music than ever before. They are huddled up tight in a London Church recording the new material that will become LP5. You can say that I am very, very, excited. [...]
