We All Want Someone To Shout For

I went to visit my brother and sister at school today during their Christmas parties. My brother actually has the same teacher that I had when I was a 4th grader. It was weird being back in the very same classroom that I spent a year of my childhood in. Everything seemed so much smaller, and less shiny. Something about being in an elementary school looking at all the parents spending time with their kids just hit me. I was sitting in those seats about 9-10 years ago, and I may have my own kids in a similar time frame (hopefully much, much, later!). My point is that life is going by pretty fast, and I guess i don’t know where I stand anymore. I just felt lost in translation, really thinking about where I am headed. Some part of me knows, another part of me is just as lost as the rest of you.

It’s funny how a simple trip to your old school can bring weird realizations and thoughts. Here are some songs I need to share with you. So take them:

Family Portrait are a really cool band that will melt your mind. Or your speakers. They sound like they are melting under water. Check out the killer melody featured in “On The Floor”. Really good. These guys need to get singed to a big label ASAP. Get to know them more @ their myspace!

Not a new song by any means, but “Breathe Me” is just too damn beautiful for words. Breath-taking!

I don’t know why I took so long to get this one posted. CANT is Grizzly Bear’s bassist, Chris Taylors solo project. He released the song “Ghosts” as his first single on his record Terrible Records! The song sounds like a mix of Department of Eagles, with any of Chris’s hazy vocal performances on Grizzly Bear’s songs. You can buy the 7″ vinyl that the song is on from Terrible Records right now.
