You love b-sides from your favorite bands, correct? Vampire Weekend are riding a hot streak of near perfection right now with all of their fantastic music! They have released some really high quality b-sides over their short career, and now we can finally add Giant to that list!
If you saw the band live right as their first album was being released/supported, you should be familiar with thes song already! “Giant” first graced their live sets as “Little Giant”, and it has finally been made into an official studio recording and tacked on as a bonus track on the Japanese/Itunes versions of Contra.
The boys were able to make the translation from the live rendition to a studio version quite flawlessly. I was surprised to hear the guitar intro replaced by Rostam’s colorful keyboard playing. It only took a few listens for me to get used to it. The studio version definitely fits the sound of Contra, so I can accept the new changes with ease! This song is a lot of fun, and I think they should totally bring “Giant” back to their shows! I think people will eat this song up, it is an absolute delight! Any fans that are still letting Contra “grow” on them can rely on “Giant” to get them through the process! This is as immediate as they come!
Overall, I am really pleased with how well “Giant” came out! I waited a few years for a studio version to arrive, and it didn’t disappoint!

Give it a sample, but please buy the song from itunes when it comes out on Tuesday!

Might I suggest waiting a day or two and giving us all your vampire weekend news in one go rather than bombarding us with it every couple of hours? It’s all good stuff, but having so MANY posts on one band makes the blog look a little silly. Otherwise, keep up the good work.

Hey, thanks for giving me honest feedback! I understand that some may be overwhelmed, while others are probably willing to shoot me by now. Vampire Weekend are one of my favorite bands, and everything that I post about them in of genuine interest of the band. I am not posting anything just for posting sake. Every song, video, or tadbit I post about them are because I think you guys will find them interesting.
Sorry that I am bombarding you guys, I think things are going to slow down anyway once the album comes out! I love updating you guys, and I figured most of you guys loved getting all these updates. If it really has become too much let me know and I will slow it down!!

I feel like every track on this album is too short. I really like everything they do, they’re just one of those bands, but I feel like every song I hear I expect to go on for a little longer. And I wouldn’t mind that.

Dude, I love all the Vampire Weekend. I, for one, am definitely interested in every single thing you post about the band. I really like Contra. Diplomat’s Son and I Think Ur a Contra are my favorites. I also love your entire blog by the way, not just the stuff you post on Vampire Weekend. Please never stop blogging!!
