Tanlines – Real Life

By Will, January 18th 2010 MP3

When I saw Julian Casablancas on Thursday night @ Terminal 5, Tanlines opened and put on a really enjoyable opening set. The songs had a strong African influence, and really struck the right note for me. They were almost like a more upbeat, dancier version of Animal Collective. They seemed like really cool guys, and interacted well with the crowd. They put on a great live show, so if you have a chance to see them don’t pass it up!!!

A song that stood out in their setlist was their first single “Real Life” which is out now! It has an African drum beat mixed in with futuristic synths and tropical vocals. This song is going to get pretty big in the indie community soon, so expect the usual millions of remix’s on hypem of “Real Life”.

This is one of the first pleasant surprises of the year, and probably one of my first favorite songs of 2010! I am interested to hear the rest of Tanlines material once they release more stuff!

It gives me no problem to stamp these guys as a band to watch in 2010, I expect huge things from them!
