Free Energy are one of my most anticipated new acts of 2010. Most people who have heard the new band would agree with me. Well soon enough, I will find out how good the band is live. I am going to see them open for Hot Chip at that free Myspace Secret Show @ Highline Ballroom tonight. So hopefully they bring it live!
DFA/Astralwerks is releasing Free Energy’s debut album Stuck On Nothing on Match 9th. The Philadelphia band had James Murphy, Mr. LCD Soundsystem himself, produce their album. One of the songs from the album is available for download now, called “Hope Child”. It is a smart rock song with a nice clean sound that gives me a 60′s-70′s feel. They sorta remind me of The Hold Steady with their big guitar riffs, and light keyboards in the background. These guys have their rock roots in check with plenty of soul and passion to go on the side. These guys are going to be huge soon, I can’t wait to hear the rest of their debut album, Stuck On Nothing!!
