If you have any interest in music blogs, than you know all about the google/blogger controversy. The free blog service Blogger, which is owned by a small upcoming company named Google recently deleted 6 blogs that were hosted on their blogger service. The blogs original blogs are gone, wiped off of the earth like they never existed. The blogs have moved to new links, and are starting over. The blogs including, It’s A Rap, Pop Tars Suck Toasted, I Rock Cleveland, Living Ears, To Die By Your Side and Maslacism. All of the blogs are currently started from scratch, salvaging some posts if they were lucky enough. maslacism was actually re-instated by blogger because they realized they made a mistake. Google’s project manager, Rick Klau even took the time to apologize to the blog.

The news media and other bloggers took notice, and had plenty to say. I compiled whatever I could find. If I forgot something, post it in the comment section or email me, and I’ll edit it in. I already gave you my thoughts on the issue at hand.

Outraged twitter users including bloggers, music fans, and regular people pulled together to create the # musicblogocide2k10

The Guardian did an article on the issue that seems to be spreading the word at a rapid rate. A very good read.

Pitchfork took notice on the absurd situation

Bill From I Rock Cleveland, one of the music blogs deleted posted his argument with the google support team. He still hasn’t received any help from them.

-Poptarts Suck Toasted posted some thoughts on his deletion/situation on his tumblr for the blog: http://poptarts.tumblr.com/post/382580784/theunderrated-stereoactivenyc-soupsoup

AOL’s The Boombbox took note. They actually included what I had to say, surprising enough..

La Weekely had a nice article last week about google/blogger deleting posts. I’d like to see a newly updated one on deletion of blogs.

Mashable & Examiner both wrote good articles.
