New Coldplay Album In December?

By Will, February 22nd 2010 — with 2 comments

According to Spin, Coldplay are aiming for a December release date for their new album. The band said that they are more excited to make new music than ever before. They are huddled up tight in a London Church recording the new material that will become LP5. You can say that I am very, very, excited. Coldplay has always been a favorite of mine, and their breathtaking performance at All Points West sealed the deal. When looking back on our generation, I think Coldplay will is one of the few acts that gets appreciation from both mainstream/indie audiences (alongside Radiohead of course).

Don’t quote me, but this album is going to be pretty good. The band is really excited, and they are recording it in a church. All the signs point to a delightful album. Can’t wait!!

[new] The New Pornographers – Your Hands (Together)

By Will, February 22nd 2010 — with 2 comments

I got a test tomorrow that I gotta finish a few hundred pages for before I am ready, so I am not looking forward to the remainder of this Monday afternoon. However, I am less aggravated now that a new track is delivered fresh from the bakery of one of my favorite Canadian rock bands, The New Pornographers. They gave away the first single off of their new album Together for free. The song’s titled “Your Hands (Together)” and it is pretty freaking good! It has some killer guitar riffs and the familiar massive collection of lovely vocals from the gang. It is a good song, and a great way for the band to be welcomed back into our lives once again! Grab it below, and play it loud!

Minus The Bear :: Omni

By Will, February 22nd 2010

Today one of Seattle’s finest rock bands, Minus The Bear, announced the release of their new album Omni. It is coming out on Dangerbird Records (the bands new label!) on May 4th. Joe Chiccarelli produced the album for the band. He has produced for the likes of The White Stripes & My Morning Jacket in the past. The press release described the new album sounding a little something like this:

Omni showcases the quintet’s remarkable gift to craft visionary and gripping compositions, and with the assistance of Chiccarelli, revealing new layers in their songwriting as they pursue the next level in their inimitable musical style. With the exploration of erotic themes and fascinating tales of human sexual relationships, Omni is a riveting new album of rich soundscapes illustrated by Minus The Bear’s trademark precision and tremendous growth as artistic lyricists and songwriters. With deep bass lines, mesmerizing syncopated guitar riffs, provocative lyrics and stimulating keyboards, Omni explodes with a bursting energy and unpredictable experimentation. From lead-off single, My Time, which explores the band’s widescreen synth rock, to the punch of dueling guitars and keyboards on The Thief, from the intense psychedelicia of  Animal Backwards to the driving rock of Hold Me Down, Omni continues Minus The Bear’s shape-shifting evolution and is a culmination of  their past influences and present inspirations.

That sure is one way to get me excited for a record!

The band will begin a 6 week tour of North America on April 21st. I think that Minus The Bear will really come together very strongly on Omni. This could be a deadly album from a band that has been ready to really break out there for a bit. They have a really strong cult following, but I think they are ready to move things to the next level!

Can’t wait!

iamamiwhoami:15.6.6.9.3.9.14.1.18.21.13.56155

Another creepy video from the mysterious iamamiwhoami. This video features a cabin, the mysterious woman having a wierd interaction with a black puppy. The girl does go into the house after some bizzare balls get bounced between trees. Next thing you know she magically drops 6 strawberries and gives a creepy stare into the camera.

I have no idea who this is anymore, and I think I’m done guessing. All I know is that she is really starting to weird me out! Hopefully we find out who this is sooner than later, because I really want to know!

exlovers – Just A Silhouette

By Will, February 21st 2010 — with 2 comments

I have lots of music. Way too much. I was browsing through my itunes and came upon a song that looked familiar. But at the same time it seemed so distant from my memory. I hit play and a rush of lush pop meldodies hit me square in the nose. Holy shit, this song rocks! I really forgot how good it is. I was so thrilled to be reunited with this song that I played it on loop for 30 minutes. Then I figured it was time to share the goods with you guys.

The song is called “Just A Silhouette” by a London band called Exlovers who known how to pen a mighty twee pop tune. “Just A Silhouette” is an absolute delight from start to finish. This song makes me happy. Really happy. Far too happy for a 19 year old male. Basically these guys are like a sunny re-incarnation of Belle & Sebastian. I even hear some Elliot Smith in the vocals (more so on the other songs on their debut EP).

Like I mentioned above, they released their debut EP, You Forget So Easily, last September. It is full of songs just as delightful as “Just A Silhouette” and really put exlovers on the map for one of the bands to watch from the UK for sure!

I had this song for months in my itunes and just discovered it, so there is a good chance you missed out on these guys. Heres your chance to catch on. These guys shouldn’t be missed by any fan of good music.

New album from The National on May 11th!

By Will, February 21st 2010 — with 1 comment

Rolling Stone just posted an “In The Studio” feature with The National. From it we got the official release date of their still untitled new album. It will grace our ears “officially” on May 11th. Thank the heavens! Guitarist Aaron Dessner describes the album as both “darker/meaner” and “catchier like a pop album”. Hmm..interesting! Pretty much conflicting sounds, but I trust the National!

The article has some more details which you can get from the article right here. Chances are this is going to be one of my favorite albums of the year!

Japandroids – Art Czars

By Will, February 20th 2010 — with 3 comments

Japandroids are busy touring and as a result they are releasing 5 seven inch singles to keep their fans occupied while they record their follow-up to Post-Nothing. The first one released is the single “Art-Czar”.  I was surprised at how mellow the song is compared to what we got from their album. The song also sounds a lot cleaner studio wise. The fuzzy guitars and garage sound is still very much there, just not as oppressing. I am impressed with it, and think that Japandroids did well for themselves! The song was written during the Post-Nothing sessions, but is pretty different from anything on that album. If anything the song proves Japandroids don’t have to just rely on a fuzzy garage rock sound.

The vinyl is limited to 2000 copies and come with a cover Big Black’s “Racer X”. You can pre-order it from Polyvinyl Records right now. It ships on 4/2.

Shout Out Louds – Fall Hard (Passion Pit Summertime Radio Remix)

By Will, February 19th 2010 — with 1 comment

I’m not too sure if I am completely in love with this Passion Pit “summertime radio” remix of the Shout Out Louds single “Fall Hard”. It didn’t wow me or anything. Maybe it will do more for you?
