iamamiwhoami sent me and everyone else another video this morning. I just got around checking my email and stuff and watched it. We get some up close shots of her face but I am still not sure. I’m really leaning towards Christina or The Knife. If not them, I really am not sure who this is! Christina has denied it, so I guess that leaves The Knife. Maybe it’s a brand new artists, or someone really random and unexpected.

The Thermals released a new song today for the Olympics! The song is called “Canada” and is going to be on their new album, Personal Life, set to come out on September 7th. It’s their 5th studio album! “Canada” is the first single off of the album. It has the Thermals usual stamp of guitar goodness. I am digging it. You can stream it below, and if you dig it enough, you can buy it on itunes

Hot damn! We got brand new Dr. Dog and it’s hot and delicious! It’s called “Shadow People” and it will be on their new album : Shame, Shame. The album is set for a release on April 6th. It’s their debut album for Anti-Records. This is their fifth album!
“Shadow People” is an excellent song constructed around a pretty stellar melody. The vocals are full of emotion and honesty. The band sounds as tight as ever, playing one of their best songs yet. It is certainly one of my favorite songs from the boys yet!
Stereogum got to exclusively premiere the song, and report that the new album is heavily based about their hometown in Philadelphia. Jim James from My Morning Jacket apparently lended a hand for some guest vocals! Pretty sweet!
[mp3] : Dr. Dog – Shadow People Dr. Dog’s team asked me to take it down, you can stream it at stereogum though
Tour dates & Shame, Shame album art are posted below:

Yacht covered Weezer’s very much classic Blue Album gem “Holiday” for their iTunes session EP. You can listen to it over at Yacht’s blog and purchase it on itunes if you like it enough.
It is certainly an interesting take of the more garage anthem Weezer made 16 years ago. To be honest, it doesn’t even sound like the song. If you had never heard the original, listen to that first, then check out the Yacht cover. Pretty different, right?
Phoenix deliver an epic performance of “If I Ever Feel Better” & “1901″ at their show in Vancouver. They let the crowd storm the stage, and continued to play throughout. This is a classic performance, that deserves to be seen!
I really wish that we did this at their Central Park show…. Next NYC show, lets do it!!!!

Blogger and Google have finally struck down upon music blogs. So far they deleted my friend Chris’s blog It’s A Rap, along with PopTartsSuckToasted, and Livingears (newly started at livingears.com), and irockcleveland . When google gets complaints from the big labels and legal companies, they always take action. It started with deleting posts that got complaints, and that is why I moved to wordpress in the winter of 2008. I had a feeling that soon it wouldn’t just be posts, but it would gradually move on to the entire blogs themselves.
Without warning, they just deleted all of these bloggers hard work. These guys have put hours of their lives into their site. This is complete bullshit. How the hell can google get away with just coming in and deleteing someone’s website? Ok they posted a track that made someone upset. Email them, and ask them to take it down. That would be the end of it. Was it really neccesary to delete their site? God damn!!!!
This is really upsetting to me, so I can only imagine how those guys feels. They are going to have to rebuild, and start from scratch now. For all you other blogspot bloggers out there, you better get moved over to wordpress, or at least back up your database right now!

Ah, new Josh Ritter has graced us. I couldn’t be happier to hear new music from my boy, Josh!! I didn’t even notice that Josh had a new song out until I read it over at Some Velvet Blog. He is undoubtedly the most underrated musician in the world right now. Album after album, song after song, Josh has been putting out amazing music that deserves to be noticed on a much bigger scale. Get the word out guys!!!
His new album is called So Runs The World Away, and it is due out on May 4th. He gave us “Change Of Time”, a song from the album, for free download and it is amazing. It has all the makings of a fantastic Josh Ritter song, great lyrics, comforting strumming of an acoustic guitar, and a fitting background full of backing female vocals at the end. Josh Ritter does folk rock justice again!
Josh posted the following message to his fans on his website about the new album:
Hello All!
“So Runs the World Away” took me over a year to make.
I’m proud of the fact that I’ve never recorded a song for a record that
I didn’t believe in absolutely and that didn’t feel, in its writing, recording, and performance,
like a moment of real inspiration. I love the songs on this record so much, and my thanks
go to my incredible and talented band, my family, and my family of listeners
wherever they may be in this fast-spinning world. All my very best, and see you soon!
Josh

Head over to Bonnaroo’s website or myspace as they posted their 2010 lineup live! The site is down right now, probably due to a complete overload of traffic, but the whole lineup will be posted late tonight! They are also updating their twitter now! If you don’t want to deal with the slow Bonnaroo website, check out Music For Perfect People who are live blogging with lineup updates and will continue to do so all day! They are on top of their game, so check them out!!
I really want to go, but don’t know if I can afford both All Points West and Bonnaroo. I also don’t know if I could even find friends who would be willing to treck out to Tenn with me. Someday…..
sigh
I finally got a press release about MGMT’s new album, Congratulations! It’s finally official! The album is indeed coming out on April 13th like we thought it was! The new album is a collection of “nine individual musical tours de force sequenced to flow with sonic and thematic coherence. One of the songs is titled “Lady Dada’s Nightmare”, which is a instrumental homage dedicated to yes, Lady Gaga. Weird.
The album was self produced by MGMT, along with Sonic Boom. It was recorded throughout 2009 in Malibu, upstate New York, and Brooklyn. The band’s live lineup worked with the Andrew and Ben on the recordings.
Here is a direct quote from the press release which tells us a pretty good deal about the album:
With Congratulations, MGMT unlock a new musical world whirling in its own space/time grid infused with hints of music from the past five decades. Soulful and complex, Congratulations is a surprising and delightful quantum step forward in MGMT’s ongoing pop revolution.
I’m really excited to hear what MGMT have come up with. I think they have great potential to deliver something really strong, but at the same time, I am sorta worried. Either way, I cannot wait to get to hear Congratulations already! I posted the tracklisting below:
01 It’s Working
02 Song for Dan Treacy
03 Someone’s Missing
04 Flash Delirium
05 I Found a Whistle
06 Siberian Breaks
07 Brian Eno
08 Lady Dada’s Nightmare
09 Congratulations
If you head over to the bands site, you can pre-order the album. Like I said, it’s coming out on April 13th! Keep an eye out for any new tracks, and feel free to send me tips if you know anything that I don’t!!!
Below, I some live videos of Congratulations songs that the band has performed live already to give you a small taste of what to expect:

Last night during the SuperBowl the Army Reserve was one of the many commercials that paid big bucks to get their ad shown in between the big game. Jack and Meg White were watching and noticed something strange about the music that the Army Reserved used. They noticed that it sound awfully familiar to a song that they have done. A little number called “Fell In Love With A Girl”.
You can watch the video that the Army Reserved used right here, and then compare it to Fell In Love With A Girl right here. It does sound a lot like it, but it isn’t completely the same.
What do you think? You can see what the White Stripes had to say over at Third Man Records, and you can tell they are not too happy about it! Legal action is going to be underway soon!!
