[...] British folk band Mumford & Sons have been getting a lot of attention lately and are going to be getting some more thanks to their cover of a recent Vampire Weekend single. The band decided to cover Vampire Weekend’s lead single from “Contra”, ‘Cousins’. As always from across the pond the cover came courtesy of BBC Radio 1. The cover just turns the songs in a finger-picked, folky version of the song with vocal harmonies until they pick-up the tempo and take their cover to the next level. [...] Mumford and Sons stopped by the BBC Live Lounge and pulled off this great cover of Vampire Weekend’s “Cousins”. The original version of “Cousins” has such a distinct, hyperactive Vampire Weekend feel to it and I was sure that any attempt to recreate that would be awkward and forced – I was wrong. Mumford and Sons have really owned this song. They start it off slowly, easing into each line before giving one run at a stripped down chorus.
