Fresh tunes keep finding their way to me as of late. I’m not complaining. It’s helping my procrastination of my reading of the dreadful books I have to read for Literature Of War.
Kilian from Guerolitomusic was kind enough to notify me that a new Foals song surfaced via my shoutbox. It’s a radio rip of the song “This Orient” which is the lead single off their new album, Total Life Forever. There is more of a widescreen experience to these new Foals songs than their earlier work. They embrace their ability to take their songs and flesh them out, creating some pretty wonderful moments.

Wow. Sounds like something between friendly fires and Bloc Party. I would not say their sound sold out but.. idk, i need to hear the full album soon.

average to plus-size fan; don’t think foals are selling the sound out, but the move away from the earlier work, the dedication to make music for fun. Now the [excitably quotable] Yannis doesn’t need press [as often] for his statements – his putting it into music. Perhaps we’ll be hearing more eloquent, less evocative angst and ire than ‘Tron” “Heavy water” and perhaps ‘Electric Bloom’ and ‘Big Big Love’. It seems the whimsy, post-teen satire remain, a la Red Socks, but they promised they were about the fun of making music – don’t get bogged down in your Western Feelings…
