This new Blitzen Trapper song was a pleasant surprise. My day has been pretty bleak, so I wasn’t really expecting any other new tunes. I just got out of class not too long ago and found out that there is a new Blitzen Trapper mp3 up for free download. Sweet deal.
The song is called “Heaven And Earth” and you can get a good idea of how it sounds from the title. It’s a wholesome song built around vulnerable piano playing and extravagant strings. Eric Earley’s vocals are virtually the only other instrument on this song, and he carries it home beautifully. This song should play as a wonderful centerpiece at their live shows.
It will be off their upcoming new album Destroyer Of The Void which will be released on June 8th via Sub Pop. Listening to the mp3 below. Tour dates and track-listing for the album are after the jump.
