[video] Full Song From iamamiwhoami – B

By Will, March 14th 2010 — with 5 comments

Wow, we finally get a full song from the mysterious iamamiwhoami. A new video graced my gmail 50 minutes ago. I eagerly opened it and strangely the titled featured no numbers. Rather, just “B”. I was also shocked that we got a full video from her. It was a pretty creepy sight to see her completely wrapped in shrink wrap. Those blue eyes are so blue that it’s almost creepy man!

We got a full song and a pretty good look at her but I am still not sure who it is. We also got to see a man who is practically glued to the coach, almost like he’s forced to stay by her. The song was a eerie ballad that was a lot different from the stuff we heard in earlier clips.

This project is really confusing the hell out of me. They better give us answers soon, or else people will start to lose interest! I have a feeling that we are starting to get close though!

Watch the latest video below.

LA’s Rainbow Arabia are hard at work on their debut album. For now they released a remix album of some of their material so far. They also included some remixes that they did for others. Here is one of the remixes of their song Kabukimono:

Some really cool music for a light night drive with the windows down. The whole EP is available for free download here as a ZIP

Meredith Bragg – Next Time

By Will, March 12th 2010 — with 1 comment

I’ve been getting a pretty overwhelming amount of emails about artists that are performing at SXSW. One of the artists that came to my way via email is Meredith Bragg. I am pretty thankful for this email because I don’t know if I would have discovered Meredith otherwise. He posted a new song in anticipation for his upcoming shows at SXSW. The song is called “Next Time” and boy, is it a keeper.

It is a pretty song that really hit me hard emotionally. The lyrics are sad, dripping with melancholy. His voice is a soft and tender, fulled with anguish. Bragg misses this girl, and you begin to miss her too. The strings come in, and the tears come rolling. Bring on the Elliot Smith comparisons.

This is surely going to be one of my favorite songs of the year. It will probably be included on Bragg’s 3rd album which will be released later this year.

Where have you been all my life Meredith Bragg?

The National played the Bell House last night to lucky fans who were quick enough to get tickets, and they debuted a lot of songs off of High Violet. One of them is called “Vanderlylle Cry Baby” and someone recorded it for us.

They are playing at Brooklyn’s Bell House again tonight, but it’s 21 and over so I can’t go. I’m checking out Foreign Born and Free Energy instead. If your going to be at the 2nd bell house show, please bring a camera!

[mp3] : Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – Round and Round

By Will, March 12th 2010 — with 6 comments

Doing some late night blog reading and came across an excellent song posted on the just as excellent GorillavsBear. It featured the lead single for Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti’s upcoming new album with record label 4AD. The song is called “Round and Round”. Chris from GVB is calling the song an early front-runner for song of the year. I personally wouldn’t say it’s the song of the year, but it’s certainly a very strong tune. I can’t say that I’ve heard anything else like it in recent memory, so kudos to them for that.

I have enjoyed the songs company over the last 30 minutes or so. It has a funky, lazy, retro vibe to it that teen’s in the 70′s would have drooled all over. It starts off slow but picks up nicely as it progresses into a chorus that welcomes a colorful realm of sights and sounds.

Groovy.

[video]: Fredrik – Milo

By Will, March 12th 2010 — with 1 comment

Fredrik released are on Kora Records and quietly released their 2nd album Trilogi. They just released the video for the lovely song Milo. It sounds like a mix of Elliot Smith and Radiohead as a dark folk song. These guys are cool.

Check out the video:

If you pre-ordered Plastic Beach from itunes, you got two pretty cool instrumental tracks. These are pretty, pretty songs that are pretty different from what we have come to expect from the Gorillaz. I don’t know how many people are aware of these songs, but its my hope that the word spreads.

Pirate’s Progress is an extended version of the Orchestral Intro. It is a pretty little peace that finds a way to conjure images of Plastic Beach in the listeners head. Three Hearts, Seven Seas, Twelve Moons is a shorter instrumental that may have served well as an interlude on Plastic Beach. The beginning of it reminded me of something off of the There Will Be Blood Soundtrack.

Check them out below. Don’t think I will be able to have them up for long.

Tinie Tempah – Pass Out

By Will, March 11th 2010

Tinie Tempah is a young up and coming British rapper from South London. The comparisons to fellow grime rapper Dizzee Rascal make sense, although Tinie Tempah seems a bit more accessible to the masses. This can be proven with his recent success.

He just hit #1 on the UK singles chart for “Pass Out”. We all know rap isn’t really my “forte” but I gotta say “Pass Out” is very tight. He has a smooth delivery that creates magic over the fresh beat backing up his game. This is a nice refreshing change from all the rap on the radio over here. This is probably one of my favorite rap songs of the year, by far.

His debut album The Disc-Overy is coming out in July, so we shall see how the rest of the album pans out. Props to Rogo for posting about him and leading me to this discovery!

All bands should try personally reaching out to bloggers, it certainly makes us more inclined to post your stuff. It’s just something about that personal touch man.

Lukas Lonski from Lonski & Classen a duo from Berlin reached out to me on vimeo. I didn’t even know I had a vimeo account, or how the hell he found me! Anyway, I checked out the video for their song “The Punisher” and really got a kick out of it. The songs eccentric and cool, and oddly catchy. The accompanying video is a creative one not short of any weird faces.
