Mountain Man Fest

By Will, April 15th 2010 — with 5 comments News

I was reading BrooklynVegan, and their post about a potentially new festival caught my attention. Mountrain Man Fest. It would take place at Saratoga Springs on July 24th. The artists that they have lined up are Islands, Health, Phantogram, Real Estate, Eternal Summers, Cults, Woods, Summer Camp, MemoryHouse, Family Portrait, and Yip Yip. Basically, all blog favorites.

Now, I did say that this only has the “potential” to happen. Why? Well, it isn’t…funded yet. The people behind it are trying to raise money via a Kickstarter Page with a goal of a whopping $65,000 by a May 12th deadline. Woah.  In order to get a ticket for the show, you need to donate at least $35. It is a good showcase for many great upcoming acts, so if you are around town, you should really consider helping this project out.

I will have the money soon, and once I do, I will donate. You should do the same!

Absolutely. Big names dont always equal great music…and besides, I think this line up will draw a really awesome crowd.

You don’t think there are any big names? wow.

Probably a good thing considering this is a showcase meant to highlight the rising talents of so many other bands that aren’t on Clear Channel.

Gabriel, I didn’t mean to say that there aren’t any good talented artists. There certainly are. I am a fan of practically every name on this list. It’s a good lineup, I was just not sure how other people would look at it. $35 bucks is a pretty fair price considering how many bands are playing, but at the same time people may not want to pay that for a rising showcase.

I for one would, but I was trying to think for others, not just me.

Please don’t think I was ripping on the show, because I wasn’t!!!
