[mp3] Band Of Horses – Factory

By Will, April 20th 2010 — with 1 comment

I posted the new Band Of Horses song “Factory” a tad bit early, but today the band made the song available as a free download in better quality through their website. My thoughts on the song still remain the same:

It’s lovely.

If you grabbed it from me earlier, you should download it again now that it’s in better quality. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, well the time is now:

If you like what you hear, pre-order Infinite Arms from insound on Vinyl or CD. It’s surely a must own album. It comes out officially on May 18th.

[new] jj – ceo birthday

By Will, April 20th 2010 — with 1 comment

Even though jj was dreadful when I saw them live, I am still a fan of their studio output. New song “ceo birthday” was given away as a free download from Sincerely Yours today. Here was the description attached to the download:

here’s to those moments when the illusions of separation collapse and we are one, we are life. here’s to bonds stronger than blood. cin cin.

PMA points out that the song reworks Jeremih’s 2009 hit single “Birthday Sex”. jj takes the song and turns it into a beauty. They certain have incredible musical talent, but let’s hope they can translate that to their live shows.

[new] Mystery Jets – Flash A Hungry Smile

By Will, April 20th 2010 — with 1 comment

Mystery Jets have made their new single “Flash A hungry Smile”, available for free download at their website in exchange for your email. It’s off new album Seratonin which is set to come out later this year (the rumored release date is July 5th).

It’s a highly enjoyable breezy synth-fest that deserved to be blasting with the windows down. Top tune boys! We can only hope that the rest of the album sounds just as glorious.

Enjoy the appetizing artwork for the single:

I also decided to throw in one of my favorite Mystery Jets anthems from their last album, . If you don’t have it, you have been missing out:

[mp3]: Montauk – Holiday

By Will, April 20th 2010 — with 1 comment

Montauk is a duo from Sweden consisting of Johan Cederberg & Victor Holmberg. They release their first single “Holiday” via Brilliantine, and it is very chill piano driven dance track. It’s a must have on every summer playlist.

The single includes a ton of great remix which you can also grab:

It drops digitally on April 26th, and you can purchase it here.

Two Door Cinema Club – Poker Face (Lady GaGa Cover)

By Will, April 20th 2010 — with 6 comments

Don’t hate me for posting another GaGa cover. I found a cover by Two Door Cinema Club, who are one of my favorite bands at the moment. I just couldn’t resist sharing this with you because it’s a damn good cover. The band had a lot of fun doing it, it really shows.

Lady GaGa has really grown on me since I first heard “Just Dance” and I guess at this point I can firmly say I am a fan of hers. She makes great pop music that never really gets old (unless you have been to a frat party in the last two years).

The cover was recorded for a session that the band did for Fluctuat.net back in March.

I posted the video along with a downloadable mp3 below:

Question Of The Day: How Many Songs Do You Have?

By Will, April 20th 2010 — with 33 comments

I was looking through my itunes collection and I realized that I have a lot of music. A lot of stuff that I could go without. So I deleted some, added some of the new stuff that came today, etc. I was still left with a pretty absurd number, and wanted to know your figures. So here is my question of the day: How many songs do you have on itunes? How much space does it take up? Leave a comment with your answer below.

I’ll go first: 13,263 (the sad part is that I trimmed it down earlier today), 84.03 GB, 36 days of music.

[new] Blonde Redhead – Not Getting There

By Will, April 19th 2010 — with 2 comments

Blonde Redhead released a new song titled “Not Getting There” on a 4AD exclusive 12″ EP called Fragments released this past Saturday. The 12″ also included stuff from Gang Gang Dance, Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Tune-Yards, and The Big Pink.

Thanks to The Fader, “Not Getting There” is available to download and listen to right now. It’s a spacey track with hidden layers of beauty that some may call Blonde Redheads specialty.

M.I.A. announces new album via Blimp

By Will, April 19th 2010 — with 1 comment

If your M.I.A. and you have an announcement to make, you’re not going to just have your label send out a notice to PR companies, blogs, and music news sites. That’s too old school. Instead, you pay a blimp to display that your new album is going to drop on June 29th over Jay-Z’s set at Coachella. Talk about bringing out all the big stops.

Advertising Planes is going to be her next single.
