Ra Ra Riot’s New Album Is Called: The Orchard

By Will, May 25th 2010 — with 1 comment

Ra Ra Riot have announced that their new album is titled The Orchard. It is set to come out on August 24th, via the wonderful Barsuk. The band co-produced the album with Andrew Maury. Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla mastered 9 of the 10 tracks. Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij mastered the other song, “Do You Remember”. If you remember, Rostam and Ra Ra Riot’s lead singer Wes Miles worked together as Discovery.

Ra Ra Riot are a stellar band, and the album seems to be in the right hands. I’m ready to let this album comfort me during the late summer months. Bring on The Orchard!

Check out the tracklisting below:

[new] Nine Inch Nails – Theme For Tetsuo: The Bullet Man

By Will, May 25th 2010 — with 1 comment

So much for Nine Inch Nails being done for. OneThirtyBPM reports that a new song has made its way online. Nine Inch Nails recorded the song for use in director Shinya Tsukamoto’s Japanese film Tetsuo: The Bullet Man. The dark piece will play during the film’s credits.

I attached the trailer for the film below:

This is surprising because Trent has been busy with How to Destroy Angels, his new project with his wife Mariqueen Maandig, and Atticus Ross. Watch the music video from their first single “The Space In Between” below:

Would you guys rather have more Nine Inch Nails, or hear more from How to Destroy Angels?

Oasis – Noel Gallagher = Beady Eye

By Will, May 25th 2010

Liam Gallagher and the rest of the members who were in Oasis before Noel left (Gem Archer, Andy Bell and Chris Sharrock), have formed a new band together. They just announced that they are named Beady Eye and are currently working on their debut album with producer Steve Lillywhite.

Hopefully it will be different from anything that we’ve heard from Oasis before, or else many people may loose interest fast. We shall see.

By Will, May 25th 2010 — with 2 comments

Kathryn Calder of The New Pornographers is releasing her solo debut album on August 10th. (What members of the NP’s haven’t!?) It is called Are You My Mother?, and you can download a song from the record right now. The song is called “Slip Away”, and its a lovely song that proves she is perfectly capable of going solo. It’s a moving piece that certainly isn’t void of emotion. I’m impressed. this song is great.

[new] Klaxons – Flashover

By Will, May 25th 2010 — with 5 comments

Just the other day I was thinking to myself, when the hell would we ever get new music from Klaxons? Well guess what, that day is now. Klaxons are streaming a new song called “Flashover” on their website right now. There is also a cool photo of the band in a cave. Looks like they are finally included drummer Steffan Halperin in their press photos.

“Flashover” is very much a Klaxons song, just a bit heavier. The bands playing sounds tighter, and the production sounds top notch. It isn’t much of a departure from anything that we heard on Myths Of The Near Future, but I am alright with that. I’m just glad they are finally back. No official word yet, but we can expect this to be included on their 2nd album, which has been in the works for many years now. Lets hope this means the wait will finally come to an end.

Stream the song below:

If you head to The Walkmen’s website, and head to their news section, you will notice there was a new message posted:

Hi everyone. We’re playing festivals all around this summer. We’re also going to do another trip to England with the Black Keys in the Fall. The dates are on our concerts page. Our record will come out very soon, we swear!

I’m a big fan of The Walkmen, so this is amazing news. Check out a fan filmed live video of new song that is apparently called “Lonely Song” below. If the horns don’t melt you, then you better find your soul:

[new] Delta Spirit – Bushwick Blues

By Will, May 25th 2010

San Diego “Americana rockers” Delta Spirit are about to release their 2nd album, History From Below, on June 8th via Rounder Records. It’s almost upon us. They gave BrooklynVegan the exclusive debut of the excellent “Bushwick Blues”. If the rest of the album sounds as mighty and pure as “Bushwick Blues”, History From Below should be an incredible album. Download it below and find out why I am so impressed:

If you like what you hear, grab the album from insound on Vinyl or CD.
