So the band went the old self titled route. The band posted a note on their website stating that the album is titled Interpol, and will be released in September. David Pajo has been named as Carlos D’s replacement on bass for their tour. You may remember him as the guy who helped the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s out during their tour last year.

Here is the note the band left:

News About # 4

The month of September; summer ends, classes begin. The coming of a new season is in the air as autumn approaches. A time of year when the natural world slips into a slumber, and Interpol releases it’s fourth studio recording. The self titled, self produced, long-player will be available world wide in mid September. We can’t wait to share our new effort with all of you. We’ve just announced some shows and we look forward to see you soon in your neck of the woods.

Kindly,
Interpol

I’m really interested to see how this record is. Something is telling me that its going to be a bold/daring statement that will probably split fans for good.

Here is “Lights”, the only song that we have from the album so far (you should have this by now!!):

    Well,
It’s Sept. 7th, and my pre-ordered iTune release of the new Interpol songs are now downloaded.

My instant impression is that the whole “album” is very disappointing.

I’ve got most of the songs from previous albums: Bright Lights, Antics, and Our Love.

But these new song are all kind of mono-toned, dreary-sounding, and boring. Lyric topics seem the standard fare she-left-me stuff, too. There’s no significant variation in tempos and rhythms, like are so catchy and entrancing in previous works.

So, it looks like the creative ride is over for the artists and listeners alike, with Interpol.

    Peace be with you all,
    Christian Livingstone
