[new] Wavves – King Of The Beach

By Will, June 5th 2010 — with 1 comment MP3

Woah! A new Wavves song called “King Of The Beach” leaked yesterday. It’s the opening song for their upcoming album, which is also called King Of The Beach.

I’m am digging the hell out of this tune. This may be the start of a brand new Wavves. The lo-fi aesthetic is still there, but things are a lot cleaner. It’s nice not having everything they do sound all muddy.

For all the shit that Nathan gets, I gotta say that he has stepped up his game. This is a delicious slacker anthem that runs across the boarder of lo-fi and punk. The sounds of California are practically dripping from the song. See what I mean below:

My interest in this album just skyrocketed tremendously. King Of The Beach drops August 3rd via Fat Possum. Today also brought an announcement about “Post Acid”, the first single for the album. It will be released on June 9th via the Mountain Dew label Green Label Sound.
