According to The National’s Bryce Dessner, Sufjan Stevens is working hard on a new album.
In a recent interview with Exclaim!, Bryce said that Sufjan has been recording in The National’s studio, even recoding some of the song with them. Bryce said the new stuff sounds incredible and will “blow people’s minds.” When Exclaim! asked Bryce if Sufjan’s new stuff sounded like his old, Bryce strongly suggested that it was nothing like his old.
Sufjan hard at work at a new album? The Avalanche had some great moments, and the Christmas albums/BQE projects were cool for what they were, but we all know what we all really want: A new album. It would be amazing. Life changing. Especially since it seems like The National will have some impact on it. Doesn’t get much better than that if you ask me.
I’ll keep you updated.

What happened to Sufjan’s whole “I’m quitting music 4EVA because no one buys albums anymore!” ideology? oh sufjan… always the drama.

Why don’t people like Sufjan anymore? It seems like whenever I read a post about him there are a number of negative comments about him. I still like him, and I think a lot of people do.

I don’t know. I still love him though. I can’t wait for his next album. I can already tell it’s going to be special.
