Arctic Monkeys – Only You Know (Dion Cover)

By Will, June 15th 2010 — with 2 comments

I just realized I never shared this Arctic Monkeys cover with you guys. It’s the band’s cover of Dion’s “Only You Know” from when they visited radio station 101.9 RXP back in December 2009. The Monkeys are truly one of a kind. This cover is brilliant. If your an Arctic fan, this is a must have.

Posted below is the video of the band performing the video. I also included mp3′s of both their cover & the original.

In order to go you need to RSVP right here. Wish I could go but I’ll be at The National @ Radio City, and I’m not 21 anyway. Have fun if you go!

Introducing: Odelo

By Will, June 15th 2010

I discovered Odelo based on a recommendation from someone on fb a few weeks ago. I forgot who gave me the recommendation (sorry!), but I do remember that you showed me them, so thank you for that.

Odelo are a fairly new two piece from Bosnia and Herzegovina. As you can probably tell from visiting their myspace, they’re relatively unknown as of now, but I don’t think that will be the case for much longer. Based on the strength of songs like “Valentine” and “For Isabel” (which you can find on their myspace), these guys have some serious talent. They create lush electronic sounds and add smart female vocals that have serious emotional depth.

If you want to take a song home with you, grab a new song that the band just sent me called “For Masha”. It’s a great song that’s blaring with happiness from start to finish. It’s dance music at it’s finest.

Be sure to visit Odelo on myspace and keep an eye out. These guys are going places.

Klaxons New Album: Surfing The Void

By Will, June 15th 2010 — with 4 comments

Update: According to OneThirtyBPM, the insane image posted above is the album art.

Klaxons have announced that their new album is titled Surfing The Void. It’s the band’s 2nd album, and their first one since their excellent 2007 debut, Myths of the Near Future. It will be released on August 24th via Interscope/Downtown. Our first taste of the album was “Flashover”, which you can download for free, here.

I was a huge fan of Klaxons when Myths first dropped. It’s pretty tough to recall a moment when I wasn’t blasting “Atlantis To Interzone”, “Gravity’s Rainbow”, or “Magic” back in the day. I have tons of good memories made with that record. Hope to make some new ones with Surfing.

Here is the tracklisting for Surfing The Void:

[music video] MGMT – It’s Working

By Will, June 15th 2010

Check out MGMT’s ridiculously trippy music video for “It’s Working”. It was directed by French artist So Me. The video perfectly suites the band. It reminded me of Tim Burton’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for some reason.

“It’s Working” came off MGMT’s latest album, Congratulations. The album has grown on me tremendously. If you were dissapointed by it, take my word and give it another chance. It deserves repeated views.

MGMT is on tour now. Check out their dates, after the jump:

[new] Arcade Fire – We Used To Wait

By Will, June 14th 2010 — with 34 comments

Zane Lowe just premiered another new Arcade Fire song from The Suburbs called “We Used To Wait”. It’s the first single off the record in the UK, while “Ready To Start” was the US single. “We Used To Wait” is every bit as uplifting as it is beautiful. I can’t stop listening to it. Every time I try to move on, it keeps pulling me back.

There is a reason they are one of the best. Hear a radio rip below:

You can now listen to a high quality stream that Zane Lowe uploaded to his website, below:

You can pre-order the album from insound now, or buy it directly from the band.

[new] Arcade Fire – Ready To Start

By Will, June 14th 2010 — with 7 comments

Radio station 107.7 The End just premiered “Ready To Start”, the first (US) single from Arcade Fire‘s new album The Suburbs.

Our first taste of “Ready To Start” was from live videos taken at recent Arcade Fire gigs. From the live version’s we got a song with a sharp guitar riff and a drum beat that is actually pretty danceable. These elements take an even fuller shape recorded. The song sounds even better. Hear the radio rip below:

Matt Helders Is Playing In P Diddy’s Backing Band

By Will, June 14th 2010 — with 2 comments

By now you should probably know that Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders is good buddies with P Diddy. There is even documented proof. Now it looks as though the two have taken their friendship to the next level. Matt made a surprise appearance as the drummer in Diddy’s backing band when Diddy performed his new single “Hell Good Morning”, on the Jonathan Ross show.

I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw Matt drumming during a P Diddy song. He’s completely out of place. Good for Matt though. Looks like the boys are moving on to bigger things with every passing moment,

Don’t know why I didn’t report this sooner, as I saw it before but didn’t post it. We all know how much I love covering the Arctic’s, so I apologize for not being on top of my stuff. Watch it below:
