Here are the 2010 Nominee’s for the Mercury Prize Remember, the Mercury Prize is the award for best British album of the last year. Their section makes the Grammy’s look like child’s play:

Biffy Clyro: Only Revolutions
Corinne Bailey Rae: The Sea
Dizzee Rascal: Tongue N’ Cheek
Foals: Total Life Forever
I Am Kloot: Sky at Night
Kit Downes Trio: Golden
Laura Marling: I Speak Because I Can
Mumford & Sons: Sigh No More
Paul Weller: Wake Up the Nation
The xx: The xx
Villagers: Becoming a Jackal
Wild Beasts: Two Dancers

I’ve heard a little less than half of these but congrats to Villagers, The XX, Foals, Dizzee Rascal, Wild Beasts and Mumford & Sons on their noms! Who do I want to win: Either Villagers or The xx. Who will win? Probably The xx. But then again, you can never be too sure with the Mercury Prize.

The winner will get £20,000, so they are all praying to receive the gold.

If you haven’t checked out Laura Marling or I Am Kloot’s new one, do it. Sky at Night was produced by Guy Garvey of Elbow and his influence really shows. Their best work since “Natural History” (one of my all time favorites)

Im hoping for a Foals or Biffy Clyro win. Both brilliant albums especially Foals. As much as i’ve tried I just cant get into the XX!
