Pitchfork has posted that Dave Portner a.k.a. Avery Tare from Animal Collective has announced his debut solo album. The album is titled Down There and will be released on October 26th via Animal Collective’s own label, Paw Tracks. It will consist of 9 songs, that were all produced by Animal Collectives’ Deakin.

Down There was recorded this past June at the Good House, an old church in upstate New York. According to the Paw Tracks press release, Avey’s favorite animals are the otter and crocodile, and the latter has played a big role in his newest record.

So we got Panda Bear’s new solo album coming out this September, and now Avery Tare’s debut a month later. I am excited for new Panda Bear, but I am more interested to see what kind of solo work Avery Tare churns out. Should be a good fall.
