“Heats” is the new single from Poland’s Kamp!, a band I recently discovered thank to the people over at Ohh! So Famous! If you dig 80s dance rock such as Cut Copy, then Kamp! will be your new best buds. They make delicious disco inspired electronic music that is eager to spread its wings on the dancefloors across the world.

“Heats” is treads along the fine lines of a ballad, but not without its fair share of dance moments. “Distance Of The Modern Hearts” is a more straightforward approach to disco-rock, with ethereal vocals that take the song to dreamy heights. These guys know how to write a pop tune, that’s for sure. Kamp! are in for big things.

Their debut album should be out by the end of the year. Can’t wait to hear what they have in store for our ears.

If you go to the bands myspace and click the album art for their singles on the left, you can download each single for free. I highly recommend doing so.

Arcade Fire Post MSG Trailer

By Will, July 20th 2010 — with 1 comment

Arcade Fire have shared with us a teaser/trailer leading up to their legendary performance at MSG (the August 5th one). In the video they give us a preview of “Rococo”, a song from The Suburbs. The trailer announces that youtube will be streaming their performance on the 5th (Which you can still attend). I bought tickets for GA on the floor for the 4th, so now I can watch both shows! Good deal if you ask me.

Here is the trailer:

[new] El Guincho – Bombay

By Will, July 20th 2010

El Guincho has released new song “Bombay” away as a free download on his website. It will be off his new album Pop Negro which is dropping this fall via Young Turks. One thing is for sure, this is an essential jam for the rest of my summer. This song is gonna get some heavy playtime at parties this year.

Everything that is going on in “Bombay” just hit you so hard. There is so much to love. I’m really feeling this right now…

[mp3]: Kisses – People Can Do The Most Amazing Things

It wasn’t too long ago that I called Kisses‘ “Bermuda” a highly recommended mp3. I still love the tune, and probably should have put it on my top songs of the year so far list. Damn, oh well.

I just got the ok to post the bands new single “People Can Do The Most Amazing Things”. It’s a delightful hazed out jam that features appropriate lazy vocals. These guys know how to craft summer inspired dance efforts.

If you like what you hear, the 7″ single will be released on 8/3 via IAMSOUND.

[new] Menomena – TAOS

By Will, July 19th 2010

Today Stereogum premiered “TAOS”, a brand new song from Menomena’s upcoming new LP, Mines . “TAOS” treads on many different genres. The easiest way to describe it is a dirty garage blues jam. Heavy bass mixed with southern riffs. Delicious.

While your at it, here is “Five Little Rooms”, another song the band gave away from the album:

You can stream Mines in it’s complete glory over at NPR. If you dig it, you can pre-order it from Barsuk when it comes out on 7/27.

[stream new] Lissie – Bully

By Will, July 19th 2010 — with 4 comments

I’ve been following Lissie for a few months now after discovering her fantastic live covers of Lady GaGa’s Bad Romance & Kid Cudi’s Pursuit Of Happiness. Her debut album, Catching A Tiger, is being released on August 17th via Fat Possum. Entertainment Weekly’s Music Mix Blog got an exclusive stream of a new song from that album. It’s called “Bully”, and it’s well…pretty.

It was produced by Band Of Horses bassist Bill Reynolds, which could explain the alt-country vibe that surrounds “Bully”. Lissie really is one hell of a talented artist, and there is no reason not to be acquainted with her by now.

Introducing: Indian Rebound

By Will, July 19th 2010 — with 8 comments

Indian Rebound is the duo of two young native New Yorkers: Singer/Guitarist Ethan Levenson & drummer John Kallen. They have already impressed me a great deal with a strong set of demos such as the melancholy drenched anthem “Tyranny”, which sounds like part Girls, part Elliot Smith. It’s honest, raw, and emotional. There is plenty of talent at hand in these set of demos. Don’t let them off of your radar.

Check out “Tyranny” below, and visit their myspace for upcoming tour dates, which include an opening gig for Total Slacker.

My boys Young Empires are back with a new demo, and my god, does it hit hard. It’s called “Against The Wall”, and it’s dance rock perfection. With a raging bassline and synths that scream 80s disco, this one deserves to be played at every party and club. The chorus echoes Friendly Fires, which is certainly a compliment. These guys are out of control with good tunes. If you missed “Rain Of Gold” or “Glory Of The Night” you better catch up. Keep in mind that these are only their demos. Their potential is mind-blowing.

These guys are going to be huge someday. Mark my words.
