Download A Free Radiohead DVD

By Will, August 31st 2010 — with 3 comments

Radiohead have once again found a way to give us more free goodies. First they gave us a free album, now they have given us a free DVD.

Back on August 23rd, 2009 at a show in Prague, 50 fans filmed the concert from 50 different positions in the crowd. This was all professionally edited with professional show audio from the band, and the result is the entire concert shot by fans. Pretty damn cool if you ask me.

You can download the movie in the format of your choice, right here.

This was made by the fans, strictly for the fans. Amazing. You can watch a trailer for it below:

Maximum Balloon – Absence of Light (Feat. Tunde Adebimpe)

By Will, August 31st 2010 — with 1 comment

Maximum Balloon’s album will finally be released on September 21st. About time. Some Kind Of Awesome found a song from the album thanks to KCRW. It’s the very much TV On The Radio sounding “Absence Of Light”. This makes sense since it features Tunde Adebimple, also from TV On The Radio. You guys best enjoy it because it’s likely the closest to a new TVOTR song that we will have for a while.

Download it below:

Vampire Weekend have done their fair share of covers, and they always find a way to take other artist’s song and put an original spin on them that stays true to the original, while adding a signature Vampire Weekend touch. This weekend the guys covered The Boss’s “I’m Goin’ Down” at a show in Vancouver, and there is a great video recording up on youtube.

Another great cover to add to the collection! I wouldn’t mind hearing a studio recording of this cover:

Interactive Video For Arcade Fire’s We Used To Wait

By Will, August 31st 2010 — with 1 comment

It’s pretty amazing to see what technology can do these days. Arcade Fire’s new album, The Surburbs, is all about our childhood homes in the suburbs. So for their music video/film for “We Used To Wait” the band took this idea literally by teaming up with Chris Milk to bring you what may be the most interactive music video, yet. Before watching the video (google chrome is the browser they want you to use) you will be asked to type in your childhood address so that they can give you the best experience.

Images of your very own street will be included in the music video. It’s pretty damn epic. Only Arcade Fire could take it to this level.

Head over to The Wilderness Downtown to watch it.

[music video] Interpol – Barricade

By Will, August 31st 2010

I was lucky enough to grab a sneak peak of Interpol’s “Barricade” music video during my last day at Beggar’s as an intern this summer. Now it’s out for all the world to enjoy. It has cool imagery that blends perfectly with the single.

This song is pretty addicting, and this video certainly helps:

[new] Matt & Kim – Cameras

By Will, August 31st 2010 — with 4 comments

A few days ago Matt & Kim announced that their new album is called Sidewalks and it will come out on 11/12. Today we have been graced with the ultra happy sounds of their new single “Cameras”. I’m sold. It’s a catchy little number and it’s going to be stuck in many heads soon. Get ready to see tons and tons of remixes of it in the next few weeks.

This is a happy little anthem from these two ultra happy Brooklynites, and I’d be down to belt this live.

Stream it below via 107.7 The End.

They no longer write songs folks. They write anthems:

Justin Bieber’s Runaway Love Remix Feat. Kanye & Raekwon

By Will, August 31st 2010 — with 1 comment

It all started via twitter, but the remix of Justin Bieber’s “Runaway Love” featuring Kanye West & Raekwon came to reality yesterday. People weren’t sure what to make of the news, and I’m not sure if the final product has made things that much easier. The remix basically puts Bieber’s vocals from “Runaway Love” over a sample of the Wu-Tang’s classic “Wu-Tang Clan Ain’t Nothing ta Fuck Wit” while Raekwon and Kanye give some new verses.

Aside from the new verses, this song falls pretty flat for me. With that said, it was still cool to see them experiment with something new. There is only so much Bieber I can handle, and this remix certainly hits my max. I commend them for trying, but I don’t think I’ll be going back to this remix anytime soon.

Matt and Kim’s New Album: Sidewalks

By Will, August 30th 2010 — with 3 comments

Matt & Kim have announced that their new album is called Sidewalks on November 2nd. They made the announcement through their twitter the other day. A new song called “Cameras” will actually be released tomorrow via the Fader Label. It will be their new single.

Look out for “Cameras” tomorrow. It’s sure to be a bright happy song to help get you through the start of classes (or work).

Frightened Rabbit – Fake Empire (The National Cover)

By Will, August 30th 2010 — with 1 comment

Frightened Rabbit are an interesting choice to cover The National. Scott Hutchison’s thick accent certainly adds a different perspective, but when you really think about it, both bands sing about a lot of the stuff we go through in every day life. So it fits better than I initially thought. The band only plays a bit of it, before transitioning right into their very own song, “Backwards Walk”. Check it out below, via Cover Me.
