You’re not gonna believe this, but I am doing this post midway on my trip/drive up to Binghamton. I stopped off with my family at the Roscoe Diner, which is about an hour away from Binghamton. My mom’s taking a 15 minute nap, so I figured I’d pop open the laptop and test out my internet connection. Sure enough, it works, and quite well. Oh what I do out of love for ya’ll! I read on twitter that there was a new Sufjan song, just as I left my house, so I was quite pissed. Well, now I’m able to bust out a quick post.
Anyway, here is the stuff you really came here for:
Yesterday Sufjan announced that he has a new album called The Age of Adz coming out on October 12. Little did any of us know that he would follow up such explosive news with a free mp3 of a song from the album. The song is called “I Walked” and god damn Sufjan, you’re too good. This is quite different from the material we got on Illinois, and I”m all for it. Sufjan experiments with a more electronic based sound, and it’s damn good. His voice is practically made for any sound, but it really suites this dreamy electronic soundscape that he has built. It’s beautifully uplifting, emotionally gripping, and anthematic. In other words, its an ultimate Sufjan Stevens song. I’m already in love.
Can October 12th come any sooner? Not if he keeps delighting us with stuff like this an the All Delighted People EP.
Download/stream it below thanks to Dodge from My Old Kentucky Blog, who had the exclusive premiere:

[...] Time to switch up the pace. Sufjan Stevens, who released out of nowhere All Delighted People EP, has announced the October 12th release of his next album, Age of Adz, and with it, one free song, “I Walked.” His soothing vocals fit quite nicely with the dreamy synths. [via] [...]

I got the All Delighted People EP an hour after it was announced via the Asthmatic Kitty newsletter. And now, I have got “I Walked” within three minutes of the announcement having been posted on Pitchfork…I’m pretty proud of myself considering I live in the UK where Sufjan hasn’t toured in five years and to be honest, doesn’t receive much love
ooh…and I pre-ordered the album about a half hour after it was announced as well. Apart from bragging about my Sufjan love, also want to say that I love the song and can’t wait for Sep. 28…that’s when I’ll be getting the album early because of the pre-order
This electronic direction is great…I’ll still always love Illinois more, but the EP and this track show that Sufjan is one of the most versatile artists ever! If only more people outside the indie world would listen to him…
Love your music Sufjan…from, quite possibly your biggest fan in the UK…Randeep

Wow, thanks for letting us know about this!
That being said, yay Bingo! I just graduated in May, & my body can’t quite figure out why I’m not in classes right now. Have some fun for me.
But! Really, the Roscoe diner? Gross! Go to Buffalo Zach’s, which is in the same town. Much better food. I don’t know where you’re coming from (I drive from upper Westchester), but if you’re committed to diner food there’s Tilly’s Diner in Monticello, which is a great, real, old school diner, open from 6a-3p. That’s worth hitting too.
Anyway, yes. Music.
