[new] Does It Offend You, Yeah? – We Are The Dead

By Will, August 25th 2010 — with 1 comment

Today Does It Offend You Yeah? released a new song called “We Are The Dead”. It’s set to come off their new album Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You, which should come out next year.

The band gave the song away for free on their website along with the following message:

Hey! We’ve been writing an album for nearly two years, whilst trying to fit in touring as well. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for us with ups and downs (as well as lefts and rights). We’re just in the final processes of putting the album to bed, so as a treat to you guys who’ve supported us at clubs and festivals all over the world we’re going to give this track + remix parts away for free.. (Shhh don’t tell our label). All we’ve got to do now is wait on a few sample clearances and go to mastering.

This track is called We Are The Dead. It’s been through more re-writes than the “Ghostbusters 3″ script. We hope you like it, we’ll post more details on our new album “Don’t Say We Didn’t Warn You” soon.

So this isn’t the final version, but it will certainly do for now. It starts uncharacteristically calm, but don’t worry, things then kick off into the bands murky electronic territory. Really good sounds coming out of this band. This one should kill live.

Download it for free, below:

[music video]: Miami Horror – I Look To You

By Will, August 25th 2010 — with 3 comments

Big bass grooves and sexy female vocals are what you get from Miami Horror’s (aka as Lebron/Bosh/Wade) “I Look To You”. It features Melbourne’s Kimbra. Check out the music video below:

“I Look To You” is taken from their debut album Illumination, which came out last Friday.

[new] El Guincho – FM Tan Sexy

By Will, August 25th 2010

We got a new song from El Guincho’s new album Pop Negro called “FM Tan Sexy”. This is a fine follow-up to the excellent “Bombay”, another song off the album. The tropical electronic feast is a lot more clear and concise than what we heard on his last album, Alegranza!. I’m certainly more favorable towards his current sound. It’s colorful and full of live. Those beats are quite nasty.

I saw this thanks to One Thirty BPM.

Pop Negro is coming out on September 14th via Young Turks.

[Contest] Win Tickets To The Black Angels Secret Show

By Will, August 25th 2010 — with 5 comments

I got a pair of tickets to give away for The Black Angels secret show on September 7th. All we know is that it’s going to be in a very special lower Manhattan location. This show is a special, invite only show, so this is a pretty sweet deal. Even I have no idea where the location will be. Luckily I have a week off from school that week (so early, I know!), and will be able to attend the show.

The show will be in celebration of the band’s new album, Phosphene Dream out September 14th via Blue Horizon Records. Posted below is “Bad Vibrations” from the album:

You can win tickets by commenting below. I will pick a winner tonight, so you best be quick.

Bed Intruder Song

By Will, August 25th 2010

Why is this soo funny and catchy?

After a news clip showing Antoine Dodson’s outrage over his sister almost getting raped, The Gregory Brothers who have a youtube show called Auto-Tune The News noticed a hidden melody within the way Dodson spoke. They added some auto-tune and now they have a hit on iTunes. Gotta love technology.

You can buy it on iTunes right now.

Libertines Fans Rejoice!

By Will, August 24th 2010 — with 1 comment

Libertines fans have been waiting a while for this:

It’s a photograph taken at their “rehearsal gig” for their upcoming Leeds & Reading comeback festival performances. It was taken by NME’s Matt Wilkinson. Hopefully all goes well so they can come play in America. Would make my life, that much better.

Thanks to Steve Bennett for sending it my way.

If you missed it, you can hear a new solo song from Carl Barat called “Run With The Boys”.

The Bird Day – Gonna Bag You

By Will, August 24th 2010 — with 1 comment

“Gonna Beg You” is a song from The Bird Day’s debut album Collect Vibrations. The Bird Day are a band located in Buffalo, New York who have certainly caught my attention. “Gonna Beg You” is a mesmerizing piece of guitar rock that has its fair share of electronic tricks. With an addicting guitar riff coinciding with their organic vocals, there is plenty of good going around. All the pieces come together to combine into a song with tones of allure. Just when you think it’s over, they kick things back in for a slight tease before really ending it. Perfect.

There is no reason for the band to beg you for attention. They have certainly earned it with a song as good as this:

Collect Vibrations will be released soon the band says. Stay updated on their on goings on their myspace or twitter. Keep an eye out.

[music video] MGMT – Congratulations

By Will, August 24th 2010 — with 1 comment

What’s with music videos with weird creatures dying? First it was Yeasayer’s video for “Madder Red” and now we got MGMT’s “Congratulations”. It features the band walking in the desert while their camel-like animal literally falls apart. Mildly disturbing? Yeah. It’s very MGMT.
