[new] Wrens – Crescent

By Will, August 20th 2010

The Wrens haven’t released anything for a while. Try since their last album, 2003′s The Meadowlands. Well that changed a few days ago when they shared a new song called “Crescent” that will probably be on their next album (whenever that actually comes out). Right now they are including the songs demo version for the Dear New Orleans benefit album.

You can stream the song now. It’s sounding pretty good. Sounds like sweet 90s nostalgia to me.

Weezer Possibly Touring For Pinkerton?

By Will, August 20th 2010

IIn a recent interview that Weezer’s Brian Bell did at the Mile High Music Festival, he mentions that there is a possibility that the band may tour to play their classic album Pinkerton in its entirety, due to the re-issue of Pinkerton that is on the way.

If this happens, I’m 100% there. Weezer fans have been waiting a long time for this. Hopefully it happens.

Saw this via MFR. Watch the full interview below:

New EP From SufJan Stevens Available NOW

By Will, August 20th 2010 — with 2 comments

Is this Friday going to be an incredible one? Well I just found out Sufjan Stevens has a new EP called All Delighted People available to hear & buy right this instant! It’s available to stream and buy at bandcamp. We haven’t gotten new music from Sufjan for so long. It figures that he would come out of no where with new stuff. Truly a pleasant surprise

Here is the official description of the EP:

All Delighted People is built around two different versions of Sufjan’s long-form epic ballad “All Delighted People,” a dramatic homage to the Apocalypse, existential ennui, and Paul Simon’s “Sounds of Silence.” Sounds delightful, yes! The song was originally workshopped on Sufjan’s previous tour in the fall of 2009. Other songs on the EP include the 17-minute guitar jam-for-single-mothers “Djohariah,” and the gothic piano ballad “The Owl and the Tanager,” a live-show mainstay (and Debbie Downer if you ask us; what’s it doing on a “Delighted” EP?).

I’m just incredibly ecstatic to get some new music from Sufjan Stevens. Asthmatic Kitty is going to release the EP this December on single-CD and double-LP formats. You’re probably going to want to grab that. I just bought the EP, and am about to give it a go. I have high hopes!

You can stream the EP below:

Kanye teased us with the promise of a remix of “Power” by the end of Thursday night, and he delivered. It features Jay-Z & Swizz Beatz. It features some new verses and the addition of Jay-Z certainly helps. The remix shuffles the original’s sound to create something a little different, but faithful enough.

Kanye pretty much kills it on all of his verses, especially his last one. He gets pretty ridiculous, I love it. Check it:

You can watch Arcade Fire’s new music video for “Ready To Start”. It features live concert footage from a recent show that the band played in London. It slows down the footage, making their epic show look even more epic. Come on, everything looks better in slow motion, especially Arcade Fire.

Pinballsound – Wrong

By Will, August 19th 2010

Pinballsound describe are a band from the UK who are making great sounds in the line of dark dubstep. They sent me their song “Wrong” and it’s damn good. It’s electronic influenced vocals with its dark grimy sound create a deadly sound that threatens to put you in a trance. This is different from the stuff I usually listen to, so I am especially enjoying the change of pace.

[new] The Ting Tings – Hands

By Will, August 19th 2010 — with 2 comments

Here is a new song from The Ting Tings called “Hands”. They put it up on their facebook page and its supposed to be the new single for their untitled new album.

“Hands” see’s the band venture in a more electronic sound. This makes sense, since Calvin Harris mixed the song. After a few listens, I hate to say that it left me pretty flat. It just didn’t go anywhere. Seemed like they tried to go and sound like Madonna. Not too pleased with this song, unfortunately.

What do you guys think of it? Leave comments with your thoughts!

[mp3]: Wild Nothing – Golden Haze

Wild Nothing’s debut album Gemini has been good to me this summer, especially like the appropriately titled “Summer Holiday”. Jack Tatum has no intention of losing any of the momentum that he gained this year, so he is releasing a new EP. The Summer Haze EP will drop this fall via Captured Tracks. It’s tracklisting is different for each format. Interesting.

You can download the title song for free. It’s another dreamy wonder that has a tight hold on nostalgia. Sorta sounds like The Cure.
