Hey, We All Want Someone To Shout For Won An Award!

By Will, September 30th 2010 — with 18 comments

The all too kind people over at The Theater Seat Store have honored me in their 2010 Web Awards for Indie Blogs. We received the award for “Freshest coverage of what indie music offers”.

This blog allows me to do what I love each and every day, spread my love of music to all of you. So it means a lot to me for someone to take notice and do something as kind as this.

The coolest part is that today is actually my birthday, so this makes as a nice gift.

Just figured I’d share this with ya’ll as this award goes out to each and everyone of you has ever checked in to WAWSTSF. I couldn’t do it without you.

A big thank you to The Theater Seat Store for the award. It truly means a lot!

Cut Copy’s new (untitled) album is set to come out next February. The band has just announced that the new album is now recorded, mixed and just days away from being totally done. You can say that I’m excited.

The band has been filming the whole process in a documentary, and they release the first part of the series for us to see. It shows Dan & Ben at Dan’s house going through records and talking about their impact. It’s a cool watch. Check it out below:

The band just put the limited “Where I’m Going” 7″ for sale. They are one-sided, etched, limited 7” that you’ll probably want to own. Buy it here.

There’s also a good article over at LA Times about the new album. They also have a short interview with Dan Whitford that’s a good read. Check that out here.

Check out a great live acoustic set that Klaxons did at Bowery Electric for a Baeblemusic Session. This stripped down set shows Klaxons in their most vulnerable state. They lay down lovely arrangements and even prettier vocal harmonies that prove that they are truly talented artists. This is a different part of the band that not many people have seen. However when you really listen to their music, it’s always been a critical part of their sound.

[music video] Local Natives – Wide Eyes

By Will, September 30th 2010

Local Natives have made quite the hilarious music video for “Wide Eyes”. It involves a shark stalking a guy. It’s quite a riot. Look out for the members of Local Natives in the video. They make quick cameos.

[new] Kanye West – All Of The Lighs

By Will, September 29th 2010 — with 5 comments

Somehow another new Kanye song has leaked. It’s “All Of The Lights”, another cut from his album. This was the song that Kanye gave us a small snippet of during his ustream.

Apparently someone has the album that obviously shouldn’t and they are slowly leaking this whole thing to piss Mr. West off. One leak is one thing, but another, in less than 24 hours? Now I just feel bad. Plus, the track is clearly unfinished. Kanye has been giving us a new free song each and every Friday, and then this happens to him. Pretty messed up.

I’m not going to post the song myself, but if you want to hear “All Of The Lights”, head to It’s A Rap Rogo.

[stream] Jamie xx – Far Nearer

Jamie Smith is the 3rd and only non singing member of the xx. He is releasing his own solo song (as Jamie XX for now), “Far Nearer”, and it premiered yesterday on Xfm’s “X-Posure”. A timely radio rip has surfaced and it’s a great tune.

Imagine a mix of JJ and Burial with a little bit of The XX in the core. I’m really enjoying this a lot.

[mp3]: The Morning Benders – Virgins (La Blogotheque Session)

Some people have been asking for mp3′s of the morning benders new song “Virgins” that recently premiered on La Blogotheque. This isn’t surprising, because it’s a fantastic song. They delivered a beautiful session, and it deserves to be heard.

Chances are this will be on the Benders next album or EP, so it may be a while until we are delighted with the studio version. However, they did a beautiful job with their La Blogotheque session and this is mp3 you must have.

[new/video] Morning Benders – Virgins (Live La Blogotheque)

By Will, September 29th 2010 — with 2 comments

La Blogotheque has uploaded a video of the morning benders playing a brand new song called “Virgins”. I remember hearing about them playing a session with new songs, and now it’s finally here. It was completely worth the wait, because the song is quite gorgeous.

The benders are just in their own league right now. They’re pretty unstoppable.

This video is a just a teaser for a full Une soiree de poche session that the band did with La Blogotheque. Can’t wait to see the rest of it.

For now, fall in love with “Virgins”:

While you’re at it. Check out this lovely acoustic take of “Excuses” that I just stumbled upon:

I’ve been falling more and more in love with the Magic Kids gem “Candy” with every listen. It’s charm isn’t instant, but slowly but surely it will find it’s way into that soft spot in your heart.

The wonderfully Yours Truly has a freakin’ beautiful video of “Candy” that the band performed with Girls & Smith Westerns and other friends earlier this year in Oakland, California. This video perfectly captures the charm of “Candy’.
