The Strokes Playing NYC This Sunday

And guess what, you can’t go. Ice cold guys…ice cold.

Our beloved nyc heroes have announced plans to play NYC this Sunday night, but it’s an invite only show. It’s for Tommy Hilfiger’s 25th Anniversary Party, which is being held at The Metropolitan Opera House.

I saw the announcement and jumped in joy because I have yet to see The Strokes somehow. They’ve #1 on my must see bands for years. I was happy until I read the part where it was invite only for 1,200 people. The NY Times had this pretty little description of the said invitations:

Some 1,200 invitations, which resembled a box of ivy, were sent out….the party’s theme: “rock ‘n’ roll meets prepster

It’s pretty rough to see them do this to their (hometown) fans, who have waited many years to see them play. Hopefully their will be another show announced soon. A commenter on Brooklyn Vegan thinks that this could possibly be another “secret” show.

Here’s to hoping that they announce another show that is open to the public. I’d drive down from Binghamton instantly, without any hesitation.

P.S. if there is anyone who can somehow get me into this gig, I’m certainly listening! :-D
