We Barbarians caught my attention this summer when they opened for Local Natives at Governor’s Island. The Long Beach, California band played the ambitious rock and roll that reminded me of a young and hungry Kings Of Leon. I was greatly impressed with their set and am dying to hear more from the band.
They just released new song “Headspace” and have made it available for free download. It’s set to come off their new EP, also titled Headspace, which will come out in early 2011.
After one listen to “Headspace” you’ll understand my comparisons to Kings Of Leon. They share that widescreen inspired sound now found with KOL, but the young ambition for recognition is still vibrating in the bones of We Barbarians. This sounds like a band who is on the brink to breaking out into something much bigger.
You can surely expect to see We Barbarians around a lot more. This is just the beginning for them.
