Rewards is the solo/side project of Aaron Pfenning, co-founder/guitarist of Chairlift. He has been testing out his live stuff while supporting We Are Scientists on tour (I caught him in July). I enjoyed his live set a lot, and now we got a mp3 to obsess over.
“I Used To” is the song that Stereogum premiered today, and it’s a dark, haunted, 80s inspired song. You can’t help but hear a little bit of Joy Division in his voice. The song is drenched with feelings of sadness and regret. As for myself, it’s bringing me some feelings of longing. The song hits on an emotional level.
It will be released as a 7″ later on. He will eventually release an album as well.
